Hard Rock No 1 Jam

TwilightOdyssey

Darkness on the edge of Tone
Goofing around with the drum machine again tonight, and I came across a cool preset, which I very originally titled after the name of the preset: Hard Rock 1.

Not too much to tell about this clip: It's slow (86 bpm) and groovy. I really wanted to stretch it for the solo, so you'll see it gets a little weird when the solo kicks in. I didn't want it to be very diatonic, melodic, and slow -- I wanted something a bit more jarring.

Guitar used was my Jem 7D, with all DiMarzio Breed pups. Modeler used was a Korg PXR-4, on the "2001" preset, with no modifications: Just plugged in and played.

Enjoy!! http://twilightsongs2.tripod.com It's at the BOTTOM of the page.

Really like that little riff over the main chord section. Very cool. I want some cowbell on those drums!!

Hehe, thanx! Cowbell, eh? I wonder what legendary producer Bruce D.i.c.k.inson would have to say about that!!

I like that track TwilightOdyssey. Had a nice groove
Thanx, Chi3f!

I just realized that the title of the track sounds like the name of a Japanese game show! :)

Yeah that´s good stuff. I hate it to repeat myself but in this forum there are only good musicians.

This lady is dancing to the song.

Thanx, guys! :)
It's largely improvised, but I like the dark, minor key progression of things.
Davey, I'll be online later today -- I have that Rainbow CD ripped for you!

Super track, exactly why I love your playing... speed, technique and melody... very nice texture also... I hear tree guitar in some places, very cool. I which I could mix my stuff as well... I always have a hard time blending my mixes correctly.

Hehe ... ya know, when I wrote the chorus riff, I couldn't quite put my finger on what it reminded me of, and then I remembered: it sounds a bit like a Nuntius jam! :)

Thanx, Sly ...
You are correct, there are 3-4 guitars in some spots. This was much more of a groove-oriented thing than any kind of melody. I think I only play a total of 3 notes in the whole song, aside from the solo!

Re: Hard Rock No 1 Jam

This is something I dig a lot... like a "less is more" king of thing. Some extremely effective songs have very few notes... the Stones are famous for that. I very often try to write simple effective stuff instead of going for the more complex or intricate constructions. A matter of personnality I guess... I hate complexity in every aspect of my life. I'm a simple guy who likes simple things :)

Great Groove! Very nice legato work :)

Sorry, I don't get up in this forum much these days. I'm dial up a home, and work's been too busy to listen to much.
