Re: Hello from Studio jazz rock guitarist Carmine D'Amico

Well I wasen't trying to have fun. I was trying to educate the man as to how to behave in cyberspace and how a forum works. And I certainly wasen't threatened by his presence. But if he can't take some ribbing (right or wrong) w/o becoming offended or indignat, an internet forum seems to be no place for him no matter what his credentials.

Re: Hello from Studio jazz rock guitarist Carmine D'Amico

Sorry, but I can't help, but feel like Xeromus felt.

He may be an older gent with a heck of a lot of playing experience and accomplishments, but if you don't know how to conduct yourself in a respectable manner, then you're not going to get respect... plain and simple.

From day one it's been about boasting about his skills as a player or selling one of his items. I have never seen him partake in any other discussions on this board, share any tone advice or anything. It's pretty much "look at me, I'm amazing... buy an expensive guitar of mine" ;)

While most of us did just tease him initially (as seafoamer pointed out), it was his continuous ego that pretty much changed other people's opinions of him. The fact that he uses SD pickups or is an accomplished player does not mean we "owe" him some slack. If he were to contribute to the board in a more positive manner, there wouldn't be such blatant negative feelings towards the guy. All I'm seeing is shameless self plugs.

I'm going to stay out of this, but I do believe he wasn't sure how to use the boards features, like the signature function. That's why Carmine kept plugging his website. He wasn't asking for attention, and he probably has better things to do with his time than come here. I for one, hope he stays. Furthermore, so what if he wants to sell his stuff. Isn't he a registered user?

Re: Hello from Studio jazz rock guitarist Carmine D'Amico

^^^ well, that implys that he simply doesnt know how to read...........if it was dispute as to whether a topic might be for the pickup section or the guitar section, thats one thing..... but distinguising between the guitar section and the trading section, recognizing that each section has a description on it........is a whole other thing......and i highly doubt he could not recognize that

Re: Hello from Studio jazz rock guitarist Carmine D'Amico

To me it seemed like he only started this thread to get an endorsement..He kept mentioning the pickup names over and over, and suddenly he was offered an endorsement..Then his bandmate "Hartley" suddenly came, and begun to talk about endorsements etc..

I've been recording with Carmine for a while now, and I want to say a few things;

1. Seymour Duncan and Carmine were both studio guitarists in New York back in the 60s - 70s. Seymour would make those humbuckers sing, and he developed a fine relationship with Heritage guitars.

2. I've used a Heritage guitar with Seymour Duncan pickus recently, and I just abosolutely LOVE the sound and feel of the instrument. It just is an instrument that WANTS TO BE PLAYED.

3. Sune and "the Chris" you're just simply WRONG about Carmine's intentions. I've known him for over thirty years, and I can tell you he sincerely wants to share his experiences and hear of yours.

4. If you'd like to hear what Carmine's Duncan setup (#2) sounds like, Carmine and my new album is available at htt://www.cdbaby.com.cde

Hartley came on, posted a few links to the stuff he was doing, backed up Carmine and we haven't exactly heard anything from that guy since :laugh2:

I think most of us can agree on one thing, it's probably best this thread gets nuked. We teased Carmine and Hartley and they fell into every single joke guys were throwing out. When people asked for a link to his website, he must have reposted that thing about a million times :laugh2:

It definitely doesn't show this accomplished player in a very good light and probably doesn't show us in the best light for picking on him so bad either :newangel:

That's the one thing that sucks about the internet. People can't tell you're messing around with them. They take it seriously and get hurt.

Dude, ...no.

A) nobody did anything but playfully rib him (& bump his post).

B) do a search of his posts. He's done nothing here but advertise. Nothing else. Name another forum member like this???

C) About who has a "right" to be here: I love duncan p-ups, & this board, but don't kid urself. This site is good for duncan too. A live place w/ vocal supporters 24/7.

I like u dood, but ur tryin to take the high road here, when nobody really took the low road. Read between the lines. By playfully messing w/ carmine, we were trying to show him the ropes of the forum, or any forum, for that matter.

Some had alittle fun at his expense, no need to be offended, NO BIG DEAL. It happens to all of us here. I think we made that known...and it seems like he left because we weren't impressed. It doesn't seem like he was here for the reasons we all are. What in fact did he contribute? We are supposed to kiss his feet because he's endorsed by Duncan? Alittle humility goes a long way.

Zerb said exactly what I was thinking, only much more eloquently and MUCH more politely than I could have said it.

There's an old quote that goes something like "The weight of a thinker is in his thought and not in his tread." Substitute "player" for "thinker" and "music" for "thought" and you just might understand my point. A great player has been dissed big time here and it sucks.

I ask again...what did he contribute? As far as I'm concerned, meaningful posts carry alot more weight than credentials...and it's only a loss if there was something to lose in the first place.

I have to agree with this. I respect his skill as a musician. But if you look past that and his grammy's, he's your average board spammer. Over the past 6 months he has only posted in 1 thread, this one. It's not like anyone is kicking him out. My earlier post kind of sums up my feelings. I'm neither for or against, it's just an objective view.

Re: Hello from Studio jazz rock guitarist Carmine D'Amico

Ya' know, we all poked a little fun in the beginning, but this got almost as bad as when everyone chased Lee from the Board(remember him??)

If you didn't respect his accomplishments, that's fine....but just chasing someone off the site is just BAD...some were just downright rude.

Do you guys treat your grand-parents like this???

Why don't you all go down to your local VFW & tell all the old timers sitting at the bar telling war stories & tooting their horns that their accomplishments 60 years ago mean nothing.

Very Very BAD..........another vote to lock it up/shut it down/delete WHATEVER.........

16 Grammy awards.

Odd. I can't seem to find information about any of them.

Perhaps the Grammy website is malfunctioning, or they forgot to list Mr. D'Amico's 16 awards...

Echofinger, it's clear you don't understand how Grammy awards work; when an album wins a Grammy, ALL the musicans who contributed to that album get the trophy.

For example, Carmine was the guitarist on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. In 1978, it won the Grammy for Album of the Year, so he won as a contributing musician.

Think of it like winning the Superbowl; the team wins, therefore all the players have won.

Hope this answers your concern.
