Hello
Sorry for my english...
I need help to change a pickup.
I play a Fender Telecaster with a Seymour Duncan STHR-1B in bridge position.
So I have a push/pull : UP=split(single coil) and DOWN=full humbucker.
It is connecting like this wiring diagram:
http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=tele_1hum_1sing_pushpull

I want place in neck position a Seymour Duncan STHR-1N!
And I want use the same push/pull for the same function!

is it possible to have?
STHR-1B + STHR-1N + 1 volume + 1 tone + 1 push/pull
and
UP=split STHR-1B and split STHR-1N
DOWN=full humbucker STHR-1B and full humbucker STHR-1N

I don't find a wiring diagram...

Thank you very much!
Tuco

Yeah it is, I'm doing it with my les paul, let me find a diagram...

edit: here it is, it's the bottom push-pull and it splits both of the pickups. Say thanks to hermetico for drawing it up.

Ignore the top one, that's for neck in phase/out of phase stuff for peter green sounds.

Re: Help for STHR-1N and Telecaster

Hi Tuco, welcome to the forum. Personally, I wouldn't split the Hot Rails. I would wire them in parallel. That will give them a thinner, brighter tone like split but you still get the hum-canceling. You give up hum-canceling when you split humbuckers.

All that said, I could wire it but I'm not the best at explaining the wiring. I'll put the word out that you need some help. We have some real wiring experts here. They might also see your thread and respond.

Guys, can we give Tuco a little help here?

Re: Help for STHR-1N and Telecaster

Tuco,

For splitting the two pickups on the same push/pull pot, you would follow the wiring diagram you provided. For the Hot Rails neck pickup, you would connect the green/bare and red/white wires to the same spots the bridge pickup wires are connected to. The neck pickup' hot (black) wire will connect to the switch the same way as the normal Tele neck pickup's (the one in your diagram) white (hot) wire. That should do it for you.

I still say parallel would be better than splitting; but the wiring is different.

Thanks Butch Snyder!
I understand what you say to me!
And I think connect like this:

By the way, we, here in this forum, love to see hear hear about results from modifications like yours. So, send pics of your Telecaster when you're done. Post soundclips of your new pickups and let us hear them.

I see you also have Graph Tech saddles as well as a string tee.
My pups are the Hot Stack Tele as well as a Hot Stack Stratocaster neck. My pickguard has a slot for Strat pups.

Once again , I LOVE your Tele!

Tuco sweet tele. Did you decide to just go with a DPDT mini switch instead of a push/pull pot or do you have both now?

just a mini switch!
When it's at the top, both pickups are split (single coil) and when it's below, they are in full humbucker!
It's so good!!:naughty:

Re: Help for STHR-1N and Telecaster

What kind saddles are you guys using? Are they any good?
If you don't mind me asking, how much do they cost and where can i get them?
