help me with my gas!

Lately I have developed GAS again, I want a YJM scalloped strat no matter what (a partscaster, low budget), and an Agile (or other brand) 8-string in white color. I know I have all the guitars I need already. Our place is not huge and is already stuffed with 6 guitars, but my biggest problem is time. I know I want to set them up and do most of the tech work and some minor->moderate repairs/mods, but this is limited as well. Not to mention money, things have gotten tough as kids grow up and life gets more expensive. But guitars are the only thing that is really "mine". I am sure many of you have been there. So what's the antidote for GAS? When heart points to one way but mind points to another.

Re: help me with my gas!

The answer is to rip on guitar, because it's something that can't be bought, and youth can't catch up to, if you've done your homework.

Play louder
Drown it out

Its an addiction it never really goes away
Like hunger
it does get less urgent if you don't give in

Re: help me with my gas!

Thank you ppl. My gas for the 8-stringer is worse. I will have to fight this, (along some other demons as well).

I find my GAS is strongest when I am playing the least. In fact, I find I try to "buy" time to do whatever I'm GASsing for. The cure really is to play as much as possible and enjoy what you have. When you have GAS during those periods of lots of practice/playing, it's a true need. ("I need a louder Amp to gig with, I need a second guitar for an alternate tuning, pickup tone or in case a string breaks, I need a certain pedal to play a song that I simply can't get with my current stuff, etc.")

Play, play , play and see what remains.

Re: help me with my gas!

That is true. Whenever I come home from a rehearsal (which is very very rare for the last 20+ years) the last thing I wanna see is my guitars.
