HELP! Newb needs suggestion

Hey all,
Im currently about to ivest in a epiphone lp custom

If i dont get this i will most likely buy a epi lp standard plus.

Now ive heard that these guitars sound alot better with Duncans in them, and i was just wondering...
a) if its worth it and
b) what types should i get

I am willing to spend nothing more than $300 US (im australian so im not sure if thats unreasnoble.)

My music tastes are hard rock/blues (GNR, Led Zep, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd) and would like to get a similar tone as these guys.

Now since you guys are the pros, i wanted a second opinion (other than the tone wizards)

Anyway any help will be much appreciated.

i am not pro,

but i know that slash uses 2 "alnico 2 pro"

For GnR the APH-II humbuckers, for Pages tone a 59 set, for Gilmore you'll need a Strat. Joe Perry plays so many different guitars that it's a toss up.

I think I'd split the difference and get a Pearly Gates set.
