Help - weak sounding Cool Rails

I just put a cool rails pu (bridge) in my Strat. I wired it according to the scematic, i.e. black to 5 pos switch red & white looped together and green to ground (all pu's were grounded on the back of a pot). I out a string on and plugged it in to verify that it worked before re-stringing all strings. My problem is that the CR pu is about half the volume of my stock Fender pu's. :ugh1: I adujusted the CR closer to the string but it's still not very strong. Also it sounds either out of phase with it's self or like only one coil is working. It was a brand new pu still sealed in it's box.

I'm pulling it apart to check everything right now. Thanks in advance for any insight!

Just to be sure . . . you actually soldered the red and white together, right?
