Are they quite high gain enough though? I was under the impression that they were on the milder end of the high gain spectrum if that makes any sense..... of course I could be horribly wrong :fingersx:

Well... that's simply terrific behaviour from your father to have no price limit. That's astounding.
Have you checked the international dealers -lists from the amp manufacturers you've mentioned? They've got no one Brazil?
If I had the unlimited budget, I wouldn't settle for a 5150. I'd get (like I've said!) the VHT UL or the Bogner Überschall, both with their respective matching cabs. Those ought to do metal with the best of them.
If you can't find any brazilian dealers, and I'd really recommend using one, there are some shops here in Europe too. I wouldn't recommend buying a US made amp from Europe, as you pay even extra for it to first make it once over the Atlantic and then back againa. Here are some european shops, though:

Diezel VH4 is a perfect high gain amp. Plus they are in Germany I believe. You will not be disappointed with the gain.

If I was in your situation, and being the type of music you like, I would stick with Framus Cobra, ENGL Powerball, Diezel VH4, Bogner Umbershall, or a Krank Krankenstein.
My personal fav being the Diezel.

If you want a Diezel, I'd rather pick the Diezel Herbert instead of the VH4. It's much cheaper and less sophisticated. It's damn loud, though.
BTW, I'd buy a Framus Cobra.

I haven't heard anything about USPS, but I think the majority of the horror stories are about UPS... It's easy to get the two confused.

Uberschall basically = The best sounding 5150 ever. Nice choice! The stock cab kicks ASS, too! I recommended the 5150 so adamently because I wasn't sure if the price limit was for your head only, or in the country, or what. If you can afford the Uber, though, by all means get it!
I personally hate Diezel's. Their users and them tote the name around like it's the be-all-end-all high gain amp... truth is, they sound like **** for extreme metal.

Honestly... I've played them, and I've talked to a couple studio engineers/heard the clips they did... the thing didn't record very well, and I found some annoying qualities about it after a while.
That, and the absolutely obsurd pricetag.
The funny thing about the 5150, though, is that if you ask any soundman, studio engineer, producer, etc... about which amp mic's up the easiest and best for the style of music I play, they'll 9/10 times say a 5150.

I can't dispute what amps are good for Metal etc, because it's not a sound I use or a style that I play myself. So I can't dispute anything that's been recommended in this thread
I'm not sure I buy into the whole 'this amp doesn't record very well' statement though.
In all the time I've been recording (myself and others while working at the studio etc) I wouldn't say I've ever come across an amp that didn't record very well.
Sure, there's been amps that have sounded rubbish (imo) to tape, but that's more because the amps themselves just don't sound very good anyway (again imo)
You're entitled to your opinion though, so that's fair enough

The Diezels had a fairly overbearing high mid and grainy highs, IIRC, while an amp like a 5150 with it's insane mid-quality just sits in a mix perfectly.

i received an email from wild western guitars in Usa, and the guy said thta the matching cab for the bogner will not be shipped for some reason.. And.. the head itself, my father told me that its betterto think ABOUT it MORE.. something like that
i think , with all the 60% of taxes form brazilian customs.. the bogner will end up not worth the money.. cause i can get 2 tube amps for the price of one.
like a 5150 and a laney vhr 100
so.. i guess i´ll Pass on the bogner uberschalll.
I´ll Get Either the XXX OR 5150.
