Help With Locking Tuners

Re: Help With Locking Tuners

Oh, that would help too. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Re: Help With Locking Tuners

I measured the bushings that I have here
They are 8.8mm outside and 6.1mm inside and 9.6mm tall

After looking at the instructions and the tool to tap out the old bushings
I may have swapped the bushings. I don't recall

Re: Help With Locking Tuners

I looked at the tone pros link above and the 4th review mentions the ones I linked.

Alternatively you could use the Grover 102C to get the right hole diameter

If I remember correctly
When I swapped to Grovers the holes needed to be enlarged

The swap from Epiphone to Gotoh required no reaming

Re: Help With Locking Tuners

I really appreciate all of your help ehdwuld. If I measured mine correctly, the current bushings are 9.8mm in my guitar. I got a really good deal on the Kluson locking tuners I have now, so I think I am just going to keep these and order the $10 adapter bushings. I'm still in them for less than $40, including the bushings.

On a side note, The Grover are my favorite locking tuners ever. I have the 106C set on most of my other guitars. My only gripe is they don't come in nickel, but they're nowhere near any of the other nickel hardware, so it doesn't matter and I live with it. I though about putting those on this guitar too, but I saw a pic of them installed in a LP after Kluson, and the top hole shows above the new Grover tuner. That would bother my OCD forever.

I need professions help, lol. Thanks again for the help.

Re: Help With Locking Tuners

Hey Jeff, I recently put the Gotoh locking on my LP, the original bushings
were too small and I had to get the larger ones. In my case, the larger bushing
fit great and the tuners are very stable. I'd go with the bushings and if the don't seem
right (enter OCD) than its only $10 you lost. Love the Gotoh btw. Good luck.

Peace,

Darrin

Thanks for that info Darrin, glad to know the bushings worked great. I've ordered them already and they'll be here in a few days. I'll let you know if I have probs.
