Re: Hey! Talk to me about the Marshall MX212
Bollocks.. ..I'll take some flak for this, but I'm going to say it anyway :bigthumb:
I've played through a lot of nice sounding cheap cabs & also have a few of my own (Bugera/Laney). MDF is the accoustic equivalent of foam-stuffing a ply cab anyway. The reason the foam's in there is to deaden resonance, which is what MDF already does (minus the foam.)
Yeah, it's not going to be as road-worthy but if all your're doing is sitting at home & jamming on the couch it's not going to make a difference tone-wise (certainly not anything that some minor EQ'ing from the amp won't fix)..
When it comes to hi-fi speakers/floor-standers, as a rule...everything is MDF (or even deader stuff like metal/molded fiberglass), no matter how "high end". Anything that resonates more (ply/pine/other hardwoods are a big no-no...)
This looks like an MG cab..(or the like. .) ..does'nt sound too bad.
****ty speakers, bad design, inadequate bracing, stuff like that can be a problem (but there are plenty cheap cabs constructed just fine/solid enough to gig..& lots of cheap speakers actually sound great..)
I've got ply cabs too & play through a Marshall 1960b at rehearsal & most of our gigs....there's no difference worth griping about. Most time's I barely need to tweak amp settings switching between them ..
