High E String Slipped, Need Help

Re: High E String Slipped, Need Help

So it looks like the binding goes UNDER the frets. Your string must have been catching under the fret end. If it is because the fret extends beyond the binding, then just carefully file the fret end flush with the binding. If there is actually a gap between the fret end and the binding, then just do the super glue thing and file off the excess after it hardens for 24 hours.

This is assuming that the fret is tight down on the board and the gap is just a defect in the binding installation.

Re: High E String Slipped, Need Help

Doc thank you so much for your help. I had a guitar I took to Guitar Center for a professional setup that they said had a fret popped out, but I couldn't see it and it played and sounded find; no fret buzz at all. But they were quick to buy it off of me, which being a novice I sold it to them. I am taking this guitar to Guitar Center to have the Elixir strings I use put on and a set up. Although it seems that inotation and action are spot on perfect out of the box, which I would expect from a limited run, #30 of 100 ever made, $1000 guitar. I really appreciate your help Doc. Now I feel confident going into Guitar Center. The E string episode only happened one time and has not happened again. I do have a huge humidity issue in my house. My clothes dryer doesn't have an outside duct so the heat and humidity of the dryer spills into my house. I do keep all my guitars in cases and locked and I don't play or take them out when the dryer is running. I also have to keep my house at around 65 degrees because I have CTE with Acute Fibromyalgia and the cocktail of drugs I take make my body temp high and make me sweat easily. So going from hot to cold a lot with the dryer. But if Guitar Center tries to sell me a fret job or tell me they are out then they are wrong, correct?

Doc thank you so much, it's hard being a newbie. Not a lot of people want to help you out. If anyone else wants to chime in with their opinion's they are welcome and appreciated as well.

Mike, for a second opinion to Guittar Center's tech, take it over to Willcutt Guitars over on Rosemond Garden. I haven't used their tech services, but I have bought numerous items from them over the last couple of years and they have always dealt with well. I drive down once or twice a year from Cincy to check what they have.

DKSEARS, That was my first thought!! LOL!!! But they are way out of my price range. But since I last replied I found someone I trust, I can't say who because I could get him in trouble, to do the setup at my house and also throw in the new pickups in my Dean Custom 350 Floyd. Willcutt is supposed to be the best in the state.
