I finally finally got around to order stuff to my home studio/home recording. It's gonna be setup like this:
Computer:
- Dell Precision 340
- P4 2.8Ghz
- 2GB ram
- SCSI harddrives
Audio interface:
- ESI Maya44 (24-bit 96/192kHz 4x4 audio interface-card)
Mic:
- Studio Projects B1
Preamps:
- Studio Projects VTB-1
- ESI Maya44 internal mic preamp
Bass:
- Alba P-Bass (Major thanks Adrian for helping me out here!
)
MIDI keyboard:
- M-Audio Keystation 61es
Monitors:
- Acoustic Energy Aego M (not real monitors but fantastic clarity, so they'll do for now)
Headphones:
- Sony MDR-XD200 (for now at least)
Other stuff:
- Cordial high-quality cords all around
- Metal pop filter
- K&M round base mic stand
- K&M boomstand
- Acoustic foam (for building a "portable song booth" kinda thing)
It will be simple, easy to work with and easy to move around if needed. I fighted with myself wheter to get a external mixer or not, came to the conclusion that I don't need it. I rather get a decent 1ch tube preamp and use the internal Maya preamp for diversity. When I want to upgrade I can ditch that one (as it probably isn't too great
) and just buy another external one and plug it in. I won't need more than to channel recording at once anyway. Plus a cheap mixers aren't known for their micpre's
SO now you guys are gonna get some better quality music from me to listen to
Just wait until I get the stuff home and get to know it
I'm excited!
