Homemade amp - metal soundclip

Hi!

Completely new here.

Live in Sweden and build amps for me and my friends when I have time.

This is my latest amp and I´m curios of how other people like the tone.

EMG81, MESA 4x12 V30, SM57 and a ribbon mic.
Straight in to the amp..no postprocessing.

Re: Homemade amp - metal soundclip

sounds pretty full!

I have to admit I couldn't pick it out of a crowd of high gain amps, but it looks well built, with plenty of knobs to fiddle with.

:)
It is a three channel amp.

2 Gainchannels that can produce exacatly the same tone or completely different tones.
There is a swichtable Crunch mode on both channels.
Preshape filters etc. that makes it Mega tight or Big and fluffy :-)

Both Lead channels has Sweepable mid also.

So it ended up with some knobs

Can you tell us some specs? ... I mean how many gain stages, CF or Plate driven tone stack and things like that?

BTW sounds really great!

:thanks::)

It has 5 gainstages,
Couple of preshape filters.
Plate driven tonestack, with sweepable mid.
A little to much load for that last stage but it works.
Going to build one more where I will have a separate sweepable midcut.
But it takes time :scratchch

Hey Hasse.

I remember you posting this on the clone forums. Cool stuff as I said on there.

Re: Homemade amp - metal soundclip

That sounds awesome. It seems to have a great metal tone. I'd like to see how it sounds with passive pickups as well as clean and bluesy playing. Can you share more audio samples?

Re: Homemade amp - metal soundclip

Fantastic tone, especially considering it's homemade. Can you get any other kind of tones out of it, or is it just a strictly metal amp? Also a sample of the cleans would be great.

Thanks guys :)

It is a Metal amp..it probably can produce other tones as well.
Will do some clips with passives.
Have to ask a friend to play if it gonna be non Metal:naughty:

Here is 2 other clips.
Same setup as the first clip.

Lead channel in crunch mode.

Lead channel with Shape to max.

How about the lead tone? The rhythm sound is great, but I'd also like to see how it handles various aspects of soloing.

Re: Homemade amp - metal soundclip

How are pick dynamics ?... compressed like ENGLs or more dynamic nature?
Good idéa...:thanks:
I will record a clip showing the dynamic of the amp.
It is not like an ENGL :cool2:

Have to practice a little first and record a couple solo clips.

That's fat as hell sounding.
:thanks::1:
