Hi i am looking to get a p90 bridge for my Gibson les paul junior with more oomph without getting ice picky, does some of you have experince with hot p90 or custom p90 or both, is these to hot for still maintain a p90 sound

I have a Custom P-90 in the bridge of a Les Paul Studio. I love it. That said - I put that there because I wanted RAWK from that position. Not rock and roll, not rock, but RAWK. It delivers! I find the EQ description Duncan gives pretty accurate. Definitely pushing mids. and the highs are not harsh.

I can't speak to the hot P-90.

My custom has balls, punch, and bite though, in all the best ways. And it is definitely loud.

the custom sounds more aggressive to me, the hot a little fatter/warmer with a little less output. they are both great pups and sound like a p90, but this isnt a vintage tone in either case

What Aceman said. If you want RAWK, go with bridge version of Hot or Custom. I wanted less aggresive sound, so I went with the neck version in the bridge position. First, Custom neck (still too hot for my taste), then Hot neck (better dynamic).

cool thats also an option, is there in your opinion much difference between the two necks

Excellent points, you’ve basically got 6 pickups. Vintage/Hot/Custom in bridge or neck.

I have a 3 pickup guitar that has Hot Bridge/Vintage Neck/Vintage Bridge. The Vintage are mid forward but the Hot is really midrange focused. Awesome for leads but it’s definitely a specialty axe for me.

I can’t say for sure, but the Hot I have is not ice picky at all and I much prefer It to the stock P90s in the 2015 Gibson I had. I’m going for a Mike Ness type tone with P90s.

You can do a lot with swapping magnets in P-90's. P-90 bridges can be on the bright side and a bit thin for some players. Since I like fuller bridge tones, after trying a number of magnet combinations, I put an A8/A4 in my bridge P-90's. Warmth, mids, and more output. What's not to like?
