Hotrail out of phase on squier standard strat.

Re: Hotrail out of phase on squier standard strat.

A humbucker can be wired OOP with itself (between its two coils) in both series and parallel modes. If the current flow is the same direction in both coils (clockwise or counter-clockwise) they will be OOP and sound OOP.

I would recommend you bypass all the switches and just get the humbucker wired right so it sounds normal to verify there are no other problems with the pickup. Once you do that then connect it to the other switches.

wired normally (red & white soldered together), it works just fine. Once soldered on the mini-switches, i can't get nothing that sounds ok. Already replaced all the switches : same issue occurs. I don't get it. Definitly, i don't get it. :(

Re: Hotrail out of phase on squier standard strat.

Finally found a working wiring. 3 single coils (including the jazzmaster pickup) wired on the 5 way selector, the hotrails is now used as a "booster". Basically, i skipped both miniswitches on the hotrail to use only one as a simple on/off for the hotrail wired in serie. Anyway, everything seems to be alright except when the bridge jazzmaster pickup is enabled with the hotrails, it goes out of phase.
It comes from a pair of jazzmaster pickups wich have basically the same output level, the only difference between them is the ground and hot wires that are inverted. Is it possible that i used what is supposed to be a neck pickup instead of the bridge pickup ? I assume they are japanese jazzmaster pickups.
