Hotter wound 59' model?

The Custom, SD, FS, etc... are all wound with thinner wire than a 59 Model... they are hotter, but not of the same design parameters... if you want a hotter 59 Model, you would need to order it overwound from the Custom Shop.

That's really the only way, and you could probably only get it up to 10k or so because that's about all the 42-guage wire that will fit on a conventional bobbin.

I guess BBQ's are wound with #42 to ~12.80K. I might be wrong tho.

They have a thick mass around the bobins, definitely thicker than a c5/cc/custom which is wound with #43.

Shhhh.....Don't tell people about the HYBRID. I don't want them to know. :saeek: HAHAHA!...(my sinecstor laugh). I'm not sure why you guys don't try it. Hybrids could resolve many of these posts.

JB is totally different then the 59, it is kind of modern sounding, its hard to describe but the overal tone is totally different, not just the EQ.

Dimarzio 'Virtual Hot PAF'

I have a Virtual Hot Paf and it's anything but a hotter 59 imho. In the Duncan line you want a C5, not a JB. :cool3:

Really?? Could you please describe the difference?

if you are looking for a hotter 59 the c5 is it. The C5 is wound at 14.4k d.c. resistance. The Virtual Hot is at 9.13k d.c. resistance. The C5 has that infamous "mid scoop" which helps it resemble a high output PAF. The Virtual Hot's mids are not scooped but are equaled with the bass at 6.5 with the treble at 5. The C5 is treble at 8 mids at 3 and bass at 6. I have played them both and the C5 is definately hotter than the Virtual Hot.
