Looking for Real Life
cause uhh... this thing is friggin sweet
and not really all that much
and not really all that much
Some are very nice guitars, got to play them on a guitar by guitar basis though because they vary.
Agreed. Quality is hit and miss. I'm not gonna say they are bad but I don't like them myself. The paintjobs look cheap as do the rest of the parts. Sitting next to a Gibson Les Paul they just look cheap. Truthfully there have been a handful of Epiphones I thought about buying. Really in the end nothing is like a real Les Paul if that's what you want.
My epi dot has awesome wood. The rest is arse. Pickups, tuners, bridge, need to be replaced with 'quality' parts. But i played it 'unplugged' next to a proper es335, same set up, string hight, guage everything and the epi sounded as good, if not better. Also had a nicer/fatter neck/fretboard. Hit and miss
yeah, but you need a real job to get a real les paul
and i'm living off of about $700 a month & working 60 hours a week to get it
so my plan is to get an edwards or maybe a loverock to hold me over
but man... that thing is so pretty. If i had a custom shop les paul it would look like that
You gave me this crazy idea! I'm thinking... forum guitar give away maybe? It's going to take a lot of appeal to make that happen! You never know.
I used to own an older vintage sunburst version of that guitar, i really loved it. Friend of mine SDUGF bro Mclaughy has one in a rare natural finish flame top, beautiful guitar. If you want a les paul and don't want to pay over a grand, i would suggest getting one.
However, i really hate that cherry sunburst finish with that flame. And you may want to switch the Pups out for duncans.
Urban Myth. Even the wood isnt as good.
I think you should take advantage of the weakened economy, save up, and grab a Gibson LP Std or Custom at a big loss to the seller. Then be smart and keep it. Develop that method of collecting guitars, and you'll only have to buy once, rather than sifting through midline stuff for too many years. Just my 2 cents.
