Re: How do I get Ace Frehley tone?
Read it? I memorized it!!! I got one off of ebay for $9! MAybe I'll fax you a few pages when I get my printer hooked up. And remember - there are about 8 Aces out here! Not including the occassional wuss like SImon or Jeff who won't put an Ace avatar up - Not that there avatars aren't tasty, still...
And Ace does use a delay and an occasional dash of flange or phase - but mostly for an occasional solo or his solo spot. Also, mostly for things after ALIVE. The pedals were ran by a sound guy. I'm mean, come on now, the guy could barely walk, let alone run a pedal board!
And really - let's don't over-analyze the sound. It was an LP, into a Marshall, with a SuperD in the bridge. That's about 98% right there. As with many things - a little less gain than you would think.
+1
I guess this makes me Ace #2. Aceman, did you read the January '79 issue of
Guitar player where Ace mentioned his settings? I read that same issue. I didn't buy it because it was $20 and I didn't have the cash.:smack:
