How Do You Guys Feel About Agiles?

Re: How Do You Guys Feel About Agiles?

It's 2019 and I still say "agiles are great if you don't mind the stubby shaped lower horn!"
That said, the lower horn bugs me and is enough to make me stick to epi.
Agile usually have some cool finishes though.
I like their "wide" neck profile, has a comfy girth that I found lacking on their standard

Re: How Do You Guys Feel About Agiles?

Could someone please define "entry level". For example I've got a Mesa Express 550+ that is often described by other owners as an entry level Mesa amp yet cost more new and is in every way at least as good as my Twin Reverb which I don't think anyone would describe as entry level. My thinking is that when it comes to the worthiness of any piece of gear wouldn't it just be better to go by the specs and perceived quality of workmanship. That's the way I look at my Agile 2500. I own 15 guitars that range from $300 to $3000 and frankly it's often difficult to justify the cost/benefit ratio between the high and low end models. My take on the Agile that I have is that minus the pickups and electronics the specs and workmanship are equal to and in some respects better than the my two Gibsons.

Re: How Do You Guys Feel About Agiles?

I think they excel in guitars geared for metal. The Agile Hornet King V was very attractive to me as it was an affordable King V shape. I still use it as my main metal 6 string to this day, 10 years later. It's comfortable, super stable tuning wise, rock solid for touring (it got in a fight with a Pearl drum stand and won without even a paint chip) and with a good pickup set in (I've settled on the 18v modded 81/89 set) there's no reason it can't sound perfect. I like it so much I had to get the 7 string pro version (mahogany body, floyd rose and came with EMG-707s) I switched the EMGs for some EMTY Blackouts and it's definitely on par with my pricier 7 string. It's the one in my pic.

Re: How Do You Guys Feel About Agiles?

I just got an Agile Septor 627 in the mail today and the nut seems to be slotted too deep on 2 of the strings. Its buzzing on the open strings. So now im trying to decide whether to send it back or take it somewhere and get the nut fixed. It seems pretty nice otherwise though.

Re: How Do You Guys Feel About Agiles?

It's worth getting the nut fixed if you like everything else
Some guitars are fairly consistent within a given make and model but every time you buy sight unseen you roll the dice on getting the one that sounds "different" for better or worse
