One thing to be careful of is the neck length and neck pocket specs. I have no idea about a JS model, but I know that you could not interchange a Warmoth or USACG neck with an RG neck, unless they specifically told you they can completely recreate it.

ErikH said:AJ, what options are you choosing to make a Warmoth come out more expensive than a USACG? Base price, Warmoth's are cheaper. I know some of Warmoth's contours are extra but I just don't see the big difference.
I just got done doing specs for my Tele project and the neck came out $33.00 cheaper for Warmoth. I didn't choose any additional options, just plain jane maple/maple Tele neck with a boat contour.
For your guitar though, I'd stick with an Ibanez shape or a Jackson headstock would look pretty good.
For which neck? A maple/rosewood Warmoth Pro neck is $157. A USACG maple/rosewood neck is $192. A one-piece maple/maple Warmoth is $157. A USACG one-piece is $219. This is without any options, base price as listed on each site. I'm not trying to downplay your info, or either manufacterer, just curious as to what specific neck gave you those numbers.FretFire said:Warmoth's base price is actually higher, though not much ($229 vs. $219). What makes their price jump up is the back profile and straight radius options, at $35 a piece. The only thing USA would upcharge me for on this entire neck is a custom headstock if I go that route. They both charge the same for inlays and finishing, so you can factor those out. USA still comes in $70 cheaper and is better overall quality IMO.

I knew Warmoth charged extra for some of the profiles and the flat radius but since I don't care for the other profiles and like the compound radius, they come out cheaper for me. I haven't tried a USACG neck so I can't really compare the two in terms of playability and quality but I have never had a problem with a Warmoth and love the one I have now.
Ahh, I see that one now. Yeah, I would probably go with the lower cost too. I like maple/maple or maple/rosewood with the boat contour and Warmoth has it lower so that's what I'm gonna go with on it. Luckily for me I like one of their standard profiles. Different strokes for different folks. I just wish USA offered more peghead options.FretFire said:I'm looking at a mahogany/ebony neck. Warmoth also came out higher when I was pricing the birdseye/birdseye neck for my strat. Warmoth upcharges for anything but their 3 standard profiles, none of which really work for me. For bodies I would probably go Warmoth as the two are fairly close, but for necks USA is miles ahead IMO.

I guess I'm lucky then...lol. I hate dealing with upcharges.FretFire said:I can definitely see going Warmoth if you like their standard options. I'm personally obsessed with the Wolfgang asymmetrical countour, and have "The '54" shape on my strat's neck (tapers from a soft V to a C as you travel up the neck). I also prefer a straight radius, somewhere in the 9.5"-14" range, usually a 12".
I definitely wish USA had more pegheads. You can always ask about custom ones, but again that's the kind of thing they upcharge for.

That Wolfgang contour is really cool but it's still too thin for me. I like the EVH MM contour better. I believe it's the same as the Wolfgange except a little deeper and a narrower fingerboard. I have big hands and long fingers, hence why I love the boat contour. It's like holding a baseball bat...lol.
Hmm, now that I like. For me, a 1" asymmetrical contour, full length.FretFire said:Yeah, I like thicker necks too. That's one thing I REALLY like about USA, you can not only pick a contour for no upcharge, but you can also tell them what thickness you want for no upcharge. They have a few base options but you can tell them you want the asymmetrical contour that starts @ .900" at the first fret if you wanted.
