How long does it take you to tune a Floyd Rose or floating tremolo?

Yes, this guitar has an aanj, which I love the design of.
I have a package of Floyd nut shims I could try if needed.

Its not very thick, but it made a huge difference. Because of AANJ, whatever you use should fill the pocket. I'm sure someone will say brass is better, but I didnt notice a change and this is a surprisingly resonant and good sounding guitar.

Ahh....ok. I’ will take another look at it. Funny enough, the pro trem was professionally” set up and the original was set up by me.

What I will do is tighten the claw and raise the post studs until the baseplate is level and just above the rout. I guess the pro baseplate needs to be more level, similar to an OFR baseplate then? (The edge original baseplate definitely has an upward slope to it when it is adjusted correctly.)
I suppose with the tail end sticking up like that it kinda defeats the low in lo-pro. Lmao

Any idea what the plastic red things are for on the edge pro?
As I mentioned earlier, I originally had this guitar setup up professionally and for whatever reason they removed them...? I still have them and if they are a necessary piece, I’ll reinstall them.

Just watched a vid on the edge pro. The red clips are ball end string retainers and aren't a necessary. You can just clip the ball end and clamp the string like any other Floyd type trem.

I just reset the edge pro and it made a huge difference.
I did have to raise the bridge up a tiny bit on the treble side but wow is the action low.

I had this trem blocked and decided I wanted to make it a floater again....what a PITA.
To the op....I now see why I blocked it in the first place. For the life of me I could not get it to tune up properly.
So needless to say, it is once again blocked. Lol

I can't stand floating trems. You have to find that tension balance between the strings and the springs to get it right. Sometimes it's quick sometimes it takes longer. My one Floyd equipped guitar is decked and if I end up with another one, it'll be decked or blocked for dive only.

I have 4 trem equipped guitars. 3 are routed to float and one is decked.
All of my floaters are blocked.
For my needs I need to be able to install a D-tuna or else I’d need to tune a guitar to drop d and another for standard. For a cover band situation it’s not impossible but it’s not as practical as I’d like it to be.

All of my floaters are blocked.
For my needs I need to be able to install a D-tuna or else I’d need to tune a guitar to drop d and another for standard. For a cover band situation it’s not impossible but it’s not as practical as I’d like it to be.

If I need to I just drop to D between songs on the same guitar. Did that for years.

I agree. I'm WWAAAYYY to lazy to work on mine so that guitar is a wall decoration. I'll take a Toon-O-Matic any day!

While this is my only Floyd equipped axe, I'm surprised by how well it's staying in tune now that I have it set up properly, with the springs I like. And that's with the three little string clamps missing from the lock nut.

Yeah, once you “get it” done the tuning is pretty much rock solid.

Yeah, even if its not locked, it will stay in tune well as long as you dont use the trem.

For me, Tune-O-Matic all the way!

Though I have a 6-screw trem on my Fender squire; there is a metal piece on the back that's busted and it's currently not playable. That one is also a wall decoration at the moment lol

Oops. Forgot all about my lil ole MIJ Warlock. But it's "Floyd" isn't the quality of the Ibby Edge.

Floyds stay in tune really well when they’re set up properly. Most non-locking trems will do fine as well, again, set up properly.

If I use the bar on a decked trem, it won’t stay in tune. If it’s floating, I’ve lubed all the friction points, have minimal wraps of string on the post, it works really well.
