I have two. A Fender MIM P-bass with Quarter Pounds, and MIK Tobias J-Bass. I have a set of Duncan Apollo's for it, but I haven't installed them yet. Both are Sunburst.

Here's the Ibby and the Jackson.

A long time ago, I had a really cheap Hondo bass. The neck did double duty as a tremolo arm. What a piece 'o crap. Can't remember whatever happened to it. Put me off bass for 30 years.

so how is the $75 bass?

It makes for a great beginner bass, and for $75 it's a steal. However, I'd say with a good setup and a new set of pickups, I wouldn't have any problem using it as a backup bass at a gig.

I have one bass a Washburn AB-10 I got on clearance. I use it mainly for writing and to record basslines on scratch tracks, which I would send to my band.

I love those old Washburn AB basses. I used to play them in music stores back in the day, and always wanted one. I still keep a lookout for a good deal on one, but a lot of them have some ridiculous price tags.

1966 Hofner 500/1 - because Beatle fan, wanted to record that sound, easy to play and can be played acoustic for practice, lightweight and can stand for hours writing and practicing
1996 Fender Jazz Bass Deluxe - because Rush fan, wanted to record that sound, but didn't realize how different this bass was from Geddy's, though this does sound good; probably the best bass sound I have
2008 Rickenbacker 4001C64 - because Beatle fan, wanted to record that sound, but this is BIG scale and hard to play
2010 Gretsch G2202 - was asked to fill in as bass player but I have tendonitis now. Turns out this sucker sounds great. Now use it for writing and practicing before recording a track.

5, An Epiphone LP Special, 80's Gibson Bass IV (p style body with Tbird pickups), a 2013 Gibson EB, a Squire VM Jaguar, and an Ibanez 5 string Multi scale.
I got the Bass IV when I got back into playing in bands,, after having sold nearly all of my music equipment. Shortly after i joined another band that used a lower tuning so i bought the Epi for that. The EB replaced the IV a few years later. The Jaguar is the 34" scale P+J version to get the Fender tones. And the Ibanez was because I finally decided to just get a 5 string.
also I have a Squire Bass VI, but I didn't count it as its more of a baritone than a bass.

Too many.

A Precision, a Jazz, a Short Scale, a project P, and a project shortie.

The project basses are toast, need to probably just let 'em go.

Love the ones that play though. Been considering selling the Jazz for some time now. I prefer Precision for jamming, gigging, and composing. The Jazz though has the nasal quality that helps it stick out in a recording mix. Sooner or later I'll A/B the Precision and the Jazz and see if I can nudge the Precision towards that nasal quality with EQ and whatnot. If that works, there's no reason to keep a boat anchor Jazz bass around anymore.

My local music chain store did a warehouse sale every year for registered customers. I found that bass with a missing tuner and ended up getting it for $70. Unfortunately that chain "Dady's Junky Music" go knocked out of the area by GC.

I used to spend hours hanging out at Daddys when I was a kid. They were one of the few places that didn't kick you out immediately once they figured that you probably weren't going to purchase anything. Which is why, when I could buy something, I got it there.

1 delux P bass. Affinity body, Warmoth neck, Steve Harris pickup wired straight to the jack. I love the ultra detailed sound of the P bass direct to the jack. I love the Steve Harris pickup too and would recommend it to anyone. It's the best classic modern pickup I've ever played.

I really think the the Steve Harris is an optimal Jack of all trades pickup.

I think so. I love how it sounds like a classic P bass with the pillowy highs and strong low mids only souped up. Listen with headphones for the tone-assault.

That is sweet. I don't think I've ever seen one before. So, does it play "acoustically" too?

It does but not as loud as a hard strummed acoustic guitar. If you were doing an acoustic gig with other instruments you would need to bring something to boost it. I have a little Peavey 20w Micro Bass that works well for those applications.

It is perfect for late-night practice. It is acoustic just not loud as an acoustic guitar. Dean makes some nice budget-friendly acoustic basses I got one for my Son In Law. Played and sounded fantastic.
