How much do covers affect tone?

I like the look of chrome humbucker covers on some guitars so I wonder how much do covers affect tone?
I have a JB and a PAF that I would like to cover on a remarkable Epiphone SG copy. Thanks!! - Rob

I'll answer anyway. They tend to cut just a slight bit of presence (high treble) out. It's something that might be important when recording but not the least bit noticeable at a live gig.

Cosmetically I Like the covers,plus they protect the bobbins and innards of the pickup,and help rid noise....The difference from what others say,is an ever so slight loss of highs? Easily adjusted via your other gear though...
