Using the preamp tube socket wouldn't be expensive to hook up, if you know what you are doing.

My point was nobody actually acknowledged his question and didn't present their suggestions, which had nothing to do with his question, as alternatives but rather as answers, does that make sense? If I ask someone about say, the horsepower of a Ford F150, I don't want to hear about the acceleration of a Porsche Carrera.

Or, maybe I'm just totally off base... If so, forgive me.

I personally thought he meant since he was able to safely remove the reverb and associated 12ax7, he felt he could also tackle another mod (adding an additional gain stage). i see now from some more posts that re-inserting the reverb components in a different manner is a mod for more gain. i also think that the magic of a board like this is a lot of other cool info can come out of a thread outside of but related to the issue at hand. for example, i didn't know about the mod and i didn't know about the other product (despite its claims to fame).

i dont think the reverb is driven by an tube anyways, sorry guys. but thanks for all the talk it was interesting
