Since the pickup was pretty tight in the hole after sanding it, I set it in place, found a 1-1/4" nail thin enough to fit through the 2 mounting holes and then gave it a few taps with a hammer to make a pilot hole. Then I used a thin drill bit to drill down 1/2" or less.
I didn't have any foam to use that would be strong enough to make it spring up since the cavity was so tight, so I just used an old padded envelope cut into strips layered pretty thick.
The soundclip has a few skips in it when I just listened to it, I was wondering if it stopped at :04 seconds; :13; :22 and :31 when you listened to the hi-fi version? Maybe its sounclicks server, or maybe my DSL provider, seems strange. The lo-fi has no skips.

Yeah I can do some standard tuned sound clips. I'll try a couple tomorrow.

Fusion, I've looked for info on the EMG P-81 and come up with very little. How long the the 9v batteries last in the EMGs? My dad had a set in a Gibson SG but i don't remember what model they were. I've kinda stayed away from EMG 'cause it seems all I hear about them is negative and I didn't want to feed my guitar batteries to keep it going. It's seem (from what i've read) depending on how much you play you should get 6 months to a battery? That's not too bad i guess but still annoying when you've never had to do it before.

It seems like the EMGs would give me the sound I want but i'm not looking to spend $200 on a set of pickups. If you could mix active and passive pups better I might consider it. Are EMGs effected the same way passive humbuckers are as far as spacing ( don't know how EMGs are made ) ?

You can mix passives with actives but it is difficult. the Spacing question. Don't worry about it with emgs.

Mantic, it is capable of being as heavy as you need it to be. Tailoring your amp will priovide the majority of tone you need like Ac/Dc or whatnot. I can't see there being a problem covering classic rock territory with this pickup at all.
