How to get the cleanest sound on my vox?

my amp has a master volume as well as a channel volume and gain.

I'm thinking that if I dime the channel volume and master volume and use the gain as the volume, this would be the cleanest tone, right? any ideas?

edit:

just me speculating, I'm pretty far from my rig right now.
