I have read ALL the 3d in the last 2 days... In the future I'll get a clone of Dave Kilminster Tele/strato Suhr. I think that I'll use a TB-16 in the bridge. My only fear is that the pickups have too treble, that I hate in bridge position..

Meh, still prefer home made - can make two for what a single new one costs :friday:.

You know, BTR, you're gonna have to have 'inventor of the SD 59/C humbucker' on your tombstone.

this thread is also where I read that B2R made the custom/jb with ceramic mag at the same time...i consider that the best of the bunch. kudos

BachtoRock, my hat is off to you mate! I'm using the 59/C5B and 59/JazzN in my 93 Hamer Special (thank you Crusty P), and it is absolutely wonderful, my favorite bucker set ever!

Hey B2R, Which neck hybrid do you like better, the custom screw coil version or the Jazz screw?

How do these fair for the bridge PUP on:

1) a 24 fret ebony on mahogany neck/flat top mahogany body, string through/TOM;

2) a 24 fret ebony on maple neck/flat top mahogany body w/ a Floyd?

Compare to the HB-L's or the C8?

I have been jamming to some Dokken on a Floyded Strat with a JB/Custom Hybrid A4 magnet lately... excellent pickup for that Under Lock & Key tone...

Ok, had to contribute. Just did the bobbin swaps this morning. The HB with the Custom screw coil is going into a tele/gib of mine and will be replacing a JB (which I dig). I'm really excited to hear it. The 59 screw coil HB I put into a tele baritone (which formerly had the Custom in it) also I ditched the ceramic and put an A5 in both. Holy Crap do I like it soooooo much better!!!! Honestly I felt like the Custom sounded like ass, now it really is wonderful. Has the lows I wanted and the mids are right now, the air up top is cloud free.

Anyway, I'm kinda new to the pickup game. Hopefully winding my first coils tomorrow. Like I said, stoked about hearing this in place of the JB in my tele/gib baby. I can confirm right now though that the Custom/59 hybrid sounds really really nice in a baritone.

Thanks BTR and anyone else who has contributed. I would have never know about this let alone done it with out this thread.
