How would a Box of Rock sound into a PA?

I'm playing guitar at my church now, and some songs would be infinitely better with some drive. I would use my Blackstar, but the electrical in the church is sketchy to the point that I don't want to take a tube head there any more. Would the Box of Rock sound decent into the PA?

Maybe if you tried with a DI that has cab emulation (think you can get behringer or Joyo ones with cab emu cheap) or something like the Tech 21 character series (or the Joyo clones).

Re: How would a Box of Rock sound into a PA?

That would be the easiest way to do it.... get a Tech 21 GT2 and run the Box of Rock into it. The Tech 21 stuff sounds really great.

The Tech 21 Blonde I owned too. It sounds really amazing for clean sounds.... like.... it was just beautiful. :) I loved the sounds I was getting. Putting the box of rock into into the blonde would make a really versatile setup.

I wouldn't recommend the Behringer clones. My friend has one and it sounds fine but its falling apart after only a few uses. The Tech 21 stuff are tanks.

(Yes, I am biased, I love Tech 21's stuff, its so useful and sounds so great, and the customer service is great too.)

Would be interesting to hear with the box of rock into a passive DI box into a mic input of the PA. I think it'd work.

Re: How would a Box of Rock sound into a PA?

you need some sort of amp/speaker simulation going on after a distortion pedal if you want any hope of sounding even remotely decent through a PA.

Re: How would a Box of Rock sound into a PA?

You might want to look at the Blackstar dirt pedal I think those can go into the PA but does your church have a DI box for your guitar? I think you might be better off running straight from the amp and having them mic it if possible if not just run from the amp at least that way you have complete control over your vol and tone and don't have to rely on the sound guy.

Re: How would a Box of Rock sound into a PA?

I'd just get something digital to go out into the mains. The Fender Mustangs are really great sounding digital amps and offer tons of great modeling and effects. Instead of bringing the tube head just get the Mustang 2, which is 40 watts and has a 112 and would also work great straight in to the PA. They're pretty small and light too and can be had for around 200 bucks.

For me, if I can't have a good sounding tube amp and my pedals I would rather go with something digital directly into a PA.

I am just amazed we are talking worship music and distortion in the same thread.

You obvisiously haven't heard a lot of worship music. Lots of it has one guitarist using an acoustic and one on electric using light-medium gain tones.

I have heard this but this is about it.

Surprisingly good album. I didn't think Anthrax could make something that good this late in their career. But when I heard this album for the first time a while back, I was like "I'm glad it didn't turn out like LuLu."

Re: How would a Box of Rock sound into a PA?

Now what did you say about Worship and Distortion

My church's worship music is a tad heavier, but in the same ballpark:

You could get one of those cheap crap $40 Marshall MS-2s and have them mic it if you feel like messing around a little bit. You could also get some no-name SS amp for <$100.

Like the squeaking sound you get from rubbing two oiled up nutsacks together.

Why am I the only one thinking that fixing the house electrical issues is the real answer? If there's a dangerous situation it don't mean squat what you plug in. I'm worried about the man not a box.

Faulty wiring can cause shocks and start fires. So pass the collection plate this week and get somebody who's qualified to fix the problem before you burn the house down.

That is one of the highest things on the list of things to fix. Problem being: 90% of the congregation is pretty much poor, and there is about 50 members. The offering barely pays the bills for the building.
