i want to get a me-50 since it looks like a good beginners multi effects pedal. but i need a pro's advice about what i should get.

so ME-50 or another multi effect from Digitech/Line 6 etc..?

my friend has a boss multi-effect pedal that i think is sweet for the money. i didn't compare it directly but i liked it a lot more than the line 6 and digitech multis i've tried in the past, much more 'natural' with less of a digitized sound. he got it cuz he had spent $400 on nice pedals and figured it'd be smarter to trade that back for a multi, and is happy as hell.

once you start programming your own patches and everything...sweet.

The me-50 isn't too bad but there is a half second gap of silence between patch changes which is a bit of a pain live. You would be better off with one of one of the other boss mfx like a gt 6, 7, or 8.

I used to own a me50 and it's a really nice mfx considering the price. Most effects are of a decent to good quality.......None will make you say WOOOOOOOOOW but you also won't get dissapointed by any of them. What i really liked is the RAT distortion simulation on the ME50. I found it much better that real RATs :-) :-)

Get it. It's a really cool multi FX unit. It's not perfect but it offers other things other mfx units don't. The biggest difference is that while it can store presets, it's so easy to use and tweak things in realtime that there's no need to program. Just use it like a giant stompbox and twist knobs, hit buttons, etc. It's NOT all menu driven programming stuff. It's very fun and intuitive.

My favorite setting are the Natural overdrive, the Univibe, the "analog" delay and the volume pedal.

right now i own it and it is a massive pedal. it made my crappy fender sound like it was going to kill some one! metal monster! now i play it through a crate blue voodoo and it sounds even heavier. the effects are great too. some crazy ass sounds.
