about the neck specs:
scale - 25.5"
width at nut - 43 mm
at 21th fret - 56 mm
thickness at 1st fret - 17 mm
at 12th fret - 20 mm
radius - 430
thats one hell of a thin neck
about the bridge...yap it´s the new edge pro bridge, but, although i prefer the old lo-pro edge ones, i consider the edge pro (not the edge pro 2, maybe the one you are talking about...) the only decent alternative to the original floyd rose pro.
i dont know what they're all called, but the old edges were decent units, new edges suck donkey balls
and the pups...mmm not sure of a JB w maple firgerboards (maybe too bright...) and i prefer ceramics over alnico 5 pups for bridge, so i was looking for a custom or distortion trembuckers (i dunno i need a mid-focused pup or a scooped-mid one, what do you think?).
i´ll surely go for a Jazz for neck if i don´t keep the Dimarzio on the axe.
it was all just a suggestion.. the mahagony body would counterweight that mable neck a bit (whats the maple cap thickness? 1/8th or 1/4th?) the JB can just as well sound good in it
the whole axe is pretty much mid pushed. mahagony will give you lower mids whereas all the maple will add some upper mids and a bit of trebble. i say, listen to soundclips, ask around more, check out diferent EQ's and see what would suit YOU best.
thoroughly listened to the soundclips on the duncan site..
the full shred, JB, custom, distortion
to me, the full shred is kind of middle ground tonaly between the JB and custom, it's got a fuller sound than the JB, but not as fat as the custom, while it's got more upper mids than the custom, but again not as much as the JB, the distortion compares more to the JB, but a bit fuller sounding and a LOT! more agressive than the other 3
out of the 4, the JB and full shred have the best clean sounds. (again judging by the duncan soundclips) they are chimy and fresh sounding, where the bottom end prevails in the custom and distortion and they sound a little bit muffled
maybe you can try to add a ceramic mag into the FS bridge and see how you like it. it'll be a bit more agressive and a bit tighter, lose a little bit of it's low end, but it'll cut more if you ask me, but i have limited experience with magnet swaps
man, i'm starting to like the full shred more and more.. never gave it a fair trial till now. i might consider the FS set if i'll buy the jackson... cool =)
LOL
mmmmm....and that lil screamin demon, it´s a huge idea also...hum cancelling/ceramic bar, that eq...(i love the look of that pup also!!!).
thanks a lot guys....
btw, more opinions?
that lil demon sure looks sexy, doesnt it hehe
i hope i helped a little bit more
no more from me for the moment
