Humbucker Combination for HH Custom Jazzmaster

Hey,
I'm in in the process of building a custom guitar from Warmoth. The body shape is a split jazzmaster, Alder body HH route, Rosewood FingerBoard, hardtail bridge.
i have been searching the past few weeks for pickups to put in it, I just can't decide. I mainly play Reggae, Ska, Rock, Alternative. I like tone of the guitar in Weezer's Say it Ain't so. Bands Sublime, Weezer, Los Lonely Boys, etc. What would you recommend for 2 humbuckers to put in it? Also what pots 250k/500k would go with the pickups?

I was thinking about the
Dimarzio EJ Custom Bridge and Neck
Dimarzio Humbucker from Hell Neck
Duncan 59 model
Pearly Gates

Things along those lines. I want to be able to have a nice strat like single coil tone, but also be able to handle any distortion i throw on it.
Thanks.

from your descriptions I'd start with a pair of regular old 59's. If they are any less than perfect for you, they will also sound great with any type of magnet swap you care to put in them.
500k pots all round and .022uf caps.

Welcome to the forum.

If I recall correctly, the DiMarzio Eric Johnson HBs are supposed to sound a bit like Gretsch pickups. Might as well go the whole hog and fit TV Jones Filter'Tron style pickups. I'm sure that there is a variant in a cover of conventional "Gibson" dimensions.

I'd go with the JB bridge/Jazz neck combo with a push-pull pot for series/parallel switching. It'll take you from purdy to dirty and everwhere in between

Hm. I'd actually recommend the jazz in the neck and a pg in the bridge. the jazz has more of a single coil pop to it while the pg has a sizzle, and is less percussive, making it great for the bridge. The jazz should be perfect for your neck, I can even get some SRV tones out of it. The PG will tackle gain really well and give you a great alternative kind of buzzsaw tone that a lot of artists found popular.
