Humbuckers for Fender Toronados...

Hi Guys!

So i have 2 late-model Toronados before Fender discontinued them. They have a Gibson style bridge, 24.75" scale length, alder bodies, maple neck/rosewood fingerboards and dual humbuckers.

I'm going to swap the pickups in them, and was wondering if you guys had any input? I generally play kind of post-rock type stuff (think Isis, Pelican, Cult of Luna) and sometimes get into more punk type stuff. I'm looking for something that would work well for this and be able to clean up when needed. I do downtune on occasion as well. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Humbuckers for Fender Toronados...

Alder is on the smooth side so I would go for pickups with a bit of a scoop to them. '59 nearest the neck and a Brobucker for the bridge position.

59n, c5 or patb3 bridge.

i love the brobucker and for my blues/rock style of music i would chose that but i think something a little cleaner would suit your suggested styles better

I know the dudes in Pelican use a JB... what is it you don't like about the stock pickups?

All three of those bands are heavy on the pedals, so if that's what you're going for you don't need anything real hot. I'll say Duncan Custom and the 59.

I loves me some CoL.
