I AM THE MOST POWERFULL MAN ON THE FORUM!

Re: I AM THE MOST POWERFULL MAN ON THE FORUM!

It's not the power it's how you use it. I use mine for good. Thus I get lots of congratulatory handshakes after gigs and plenty of girls flashing their secondary feminine characteristics during.

So I might not be the most powerful man on the forum but I am most certainly the happiest.

so, what about that Happines, and how you use it? How is that different from power ?

I agree that those power amps are good, since I had the 60/60 version back in the day with a JMP-1, until I upgraded to a Mesa 295.

Maybe I missed it, but what preamp do you own that you're planning to use this with?

I had the Peavey with a Marshall JMP-1 hooked up to a 1960 Quad box back in the day also.

It had an awesome tone that I still miss 10 years on.

For a few years I was living in the country (Tasmania) and had the opportunity to crank it to the max and scare my neighbors acres and acres away. Great times.

Are you sure you had it hooked up right? I'm getting the vibe that you don't know much about rack gear.

Re: I AM THE MOST POWERFULL MAN ON THE FORUM!

Best overdriver eva! Yep I am using that as a preamp now but it has been my go to distortion/overdrive for years. It has the creamiest smoothest distortion I have ever heard. I got it new in the late 80s for $105 they are going for about $250 on Ebay now. The bias control gives you so much sensitivity and the presence really opens up your pickups. I picked it up when I got my Roland JC 120 I felt I should have a tube in my signal chain, there is a 12AX7A in the unit making it warm as hell. I love the unit and have never seen a bad review or heard a bad word about Chandler gear.
Wow so that's like a tubescreamer type overdrive with tubes, in a rack?

That's amazing, that would give the front of a Marshall a big wallop!

With respect sir,

I own the Mesa/ Boogie Coliseum 300.

You, however are quite welcome to the mantle of "Most powerful man on the forum"

Enjoy your amp in good health,

Re: I AM THE MOST POWERFULL MAN ON THE FORUM!

Aww... I downsized from a Mesa Strategy 300 (200 watts all tube per side) to a Mesa 2:Ninety back in 2007-2008.

However, I regularly jam with a guy who plays a Crate Blue Voodoo 300 (6550 tube power, baby!).

Come to think of it... any bassist with an Ampeg SVT Classic could beat that Peavy in raw power. :P

I am ever so slightly envious. Ever compare the 300 head to head with the 2:Ninety or Strategy 500?

I like it best in front of my 100 wt Fender Silverface never used it with the Marshall. It goes from subtle overdrive to full on distortion. There is also a built in boost if you want to really kick the crap out of your amp but I have never found the need to use it.

Re: I AM THE MOST POWERFULL MAN ON THE FORUM!

Ever hear of the Fender 400PS? I had one from 1970 to about 1990. 435 watts of RMS tube power running through 3 speaker cabs, each with 2 JBL D130F's. I suppose it was designed for stadium gigs. I was breaking windows with the volume on 2..............................................3 blocks away. It had a little bit of clean headroom. Great sounding Fender amp! Made a wall of Marshalls sound like fizzy toys.

But the dang head weighed about 85 pounds and each cab was about the same. I would carry one in each hand to keep my balance. I used to be quite strong when I was young back in the day. Now, I don't even like to carry one guitar in each hand.

Re: I AM THE MOST POWERFULL MAN ON THE FORUM!

I played a solid state peavey stereo chorus 400 for a long time, but it was definity quality<quantity.
