I do love easy fixes...

Desert RATT
One of the guys from work brought his lads Strat around this evening saying it was crackling when the lead was plugged in. The obvious problem was that the nut on the jack socket was loose on the jack plate, but exploring further, it turned out the ground wire was completely off the back of the socket. 2 minutes later, it was all back together and he was playing it again. One happy customer for the total price of free...

Back in the day before I picked up a soldering iron, the crooks around here would have charged me £30 for a job like that!

As a broke teenager, I would charge a very small amount, like ~$5-$10 USD (still better than anyone else around here). If I had a reliable job, completely free.

Freebie for sure. My Hakko gets up to 750 in about 10 sec, if it's not already on. A 2 min fix even with pfte or a drop of loctite.
Satisfied clients come back and Kharma is good.

^^ +1

I used to keep a coffee cup style piggybank labeled "Kaffeekasse" ("Coffee Fund") on my desk for exactly this kind of thing, 5 minute fixes. Most people would drop in from 1-5 DM of thir own accord, but it was in no way expected. Kind of a semi-standard "Gimme a beer and we`re even" setup that`s actually quite widespread here in Europe. ;)
