Warmoth Charvel style strat, string through hardtail, Hipshot bridge, Sperzels, EMG 85/60, 2-way mini-toggle for the pickup selector. Basswood body (alpine white), maple/ebony neck (clea satin finish on the neck) 24.75" scale. I went through the list of parts and it would run me right around $1,000 to complete. My only complaint is that Warmoth does not offer the smaller sized fret dots.

The question to ask is before embarking on this journey is: can you buy something (new or used) & mod it to get the same results? That may be a less expensive way, and have better resale value down the road, than a Warmouth. I always take the safe route & mod an existing guitar, but hey, you only live once.

Look at the specs I want, I won't find that in a stock guitar, and ordering a custom shop version would be 3 times more than Warmoth (who happen to make excellent parts BTW).

So, is this a picture of an existing guitar with all your specs?

I checked out a Charvel SoCal today, pretty cool and priced at $899. But I cannot hang with Floyds, just hate 'em. Too bad they don't make a hardtail version.

Great look TC (as always- you have extremely good taste in axes).

But any particular reason for basswood ? (as opposed to alder, ash, etc)

Go for it!

A good partscaster is a thing of beauty.

high quality basswood makes a great sounding guitar...problem with it is that a lot of companies use the lowest quality basswood they can find and it has given the wood in general a bad reputation.

Because I have in mind the EMG 85 specifically, which seems to do really well in basswood. So I thought I'd give it a try. Not sold on it though, nor am I sold on the side jack vs. regular strat style top jack. If I could order it all right away, I'd just do it. But Warmoth takes a couple months for finished products ordered from scratch and I'm too impulsive. Others have mentioned the Jim Root, but why pay 1.5 times more for a guitar that's not all that close to the specs I want? Resale? I doubt a JR will hold its value and besides, I'm not a collector. I've built a bunch of Warmoth guitars and I'm aware of the resale on them, I don't buy guitars to hold value and resell, I buy them to enjoy (even if I do flip them a lot).

In my mind, its more like an EMG loaded Jake hardtail than Slipknot.

That's actually not a bad start, although it would need a maple fretboard with the black body. But I currently have a black Warmoth tele build in progress so I don't want another black this time.

The tele is flat black with Kustom Kulture hot rod pinstripes and decals, aged parts, maple/maple 24/75" neck, cut shorty ashtray bridge, BBQ humbucker bridge, Muy Grande strat single neck, etc. Its going to be cool.

Very Cool ! Go for it! I prefer 24.75 necks myself.. my Washburn Steve Salas models are awesome!

Ive considered building my own guitar using Warmoth parts and I mocked up a price and came to about $1700-2000. Blew my mind..

Is the fretwork good on warmoth necks??

While Warmoth claims they only install the frets and any finishing is to be done by the buyer, all the necks I have bought from them have been tits right out of the box. Warmoth makes high quality stuff. The only exception to that is if you have a maple neck, whatever finish you choose will be shot right over the frets as well, so you'll need to clean them up. I ordered an amber tinted neck for the tele and it came with gold frets. Turns out its just the amber and I just needed to polish it off.
