I love when stores don't know what they have....

Re: I love when stores don't know what they have....

Is it an Ibanez 2350 model MIJ? 1977 with the pre lawsuit headstalk or similar?

I should get a reward if I’m correct.

You should and you were so.......freaking........close.......

It is a 1977 Ibanez 2650JB, Terada factory with 3 Flying Fingers pickups!!! The middle pickup was added somewhere along the line, looks to be a long time ago though. Done well but I'll clean up the wiring a bit. The JB was for Jet Black but what is cool is that the JB model has an ebony board not the ebonized rosewood board as on the CS and the other models. Sounds great and plays really well. Spent the last hour with it, playing and tweaking it a bit.

I've come so close to buying one similar many times but this was a score. The dealer didn't realize what they had and had it listed as a PF200 because of the hardware which went on the last LP shaped Customs out the the door before fully complying to lawsuit in the US. On top of a good price they offered a 15% off coupon that sealed the deal for me.

I also got the Custom Shop pickup for my Mosrite in today and got the Pearly Gates in my Tribute LP so it was a hell of a guitar day today!

I'll do a whole NGD thread but I am off to rehearsal in a few

Oh HELL yes!!!
I’m typically not a fan of middle pickups but I think I could let it slide in this case...
That’s classy

Congrats!!

Those were bolt-ons, unless I misunderstood the posted pic of a back of a set neck LP?

Also, the pre-lawsuit headstocks got ditched in like '74 afair

Re: I love when stores don't know what they have....

I am totally in love with this guitar. It is a bit heavy but I am dealing with it, it is from the 70's when the heavier it was, the better it was so I got what I paid for lol. I picked up a really beautiful 3" wide Levy's strap that negates most of the weight issue. This isn't a "all-nighter" guitar though I don't think ;)

I have a proper pickguard being made for it to complete the look. Normally I wouldn't bother but since the PF guard meant there is a hole drilled in the middle of it. I figure why not, it'll class it up too.

The Super 80's are a bit too ceramic for me sometimes so I may change out a pickup or 2. I have Super 80's covers so it would be pretty stealthy, something Custom (C, 5, or 2?) in the bridge and see if I can hang with the others. Dialing in the middle pickup to about 5 on the volume adds a really nice tone to the bridge, kind of semi-hollow tone.

This guy is a blast, I love his videos and his gear. I think I kind of want to be him if I ever grow up

Well that about proves the "bolton is no good" rep is undeserved.... bet that shocked a few people when they saw which one was bolted

That said, this guy has mad money in amplification, cabs, processing, and recording gear, so ymmv
