I need a good pedal board & power supply.

It is that time again !

Time to spend money on things that does not add noise to my signal and keep everything neat n' tidy !

What good pedal boards (w. flightcase) is out there ?
I will also need a very good power-supply to power them all, and also live on the board !

What do you guys use ?

I will probably have 6 pedals & the power-supply on it.

Oh, and do feel free to post images of your pedal board & power-supply !

NYC Pedal boards for the board and VooDoo Labs for the power supply...get the Pedal Power II+, drop it on a NYC board and be done with it...

i gotta say, georgeLs, which I have used for a long time, *do* fail at some point. I hear the Bill Lawrence cables (same idea) are easier to work with and don't fail as often.

For power, I recommend a 1-spot. I have a NYC Board, which works great, but the carpet attracts everything. You'll need to shop vac it once in awhile.

Will it fit any kind of pedal, right now I have TS9, CS9(chorus from same series), Bad Horsie, and planning to get a ISP decimator, Morley Lynch's spliter or some other A/B/C type o stomp box, may be a FL9(once again ibanez) SD pick booster and some treble booster pedal perhaps, will this thing cover all of these with out a problem ?

. . . ahhhh, thanx mate, i was about to ask for site address', because right now, i am still "stuck" in deepest-darkest Soof Arrfrika, and have no idea what you guy talk about, IF you only mention names.

The ONLY power-supplies us SA-folk know of, is the SUPER-bloody-EXPENSIVE Boss unit, and the MXR DC-Brick, and that is even more LUDUCRIS :no: .

Will (hopefully) call Canada 'home' this time next year, as the GF is a born & bread Torontonian (or whatever you call someone that lives in Toronto).

How good is the DC-BRICK, by the way ?

I take it that NYCpedalboards and Pedaltrains are NOT the same thing ?

NYC and pedaltrain are not the same company, as for the DC Brick it's OK but IMO just OK...the PPII+ is a far better unit but it does cost...

I really like my Pedaltrain Pro SC and Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2+, I don't think I'd opt for anything else.

Well, this is one time that i am willing to spend some money on something that does NOT make a sound ! :11:

How much for GeorgeL patch-cables ?
Are they realy THAT expensive ?

Ohm and are they the best that an avarage bloke can afford - i am not Mr. D. Trump (mmmm, now if he was my father . . . )

Let's say this...the NYC boards run between $75 and $169 plus a little more for extras...you can pay extran for butterfly latches, the top shelf, the pedal platforms and velcro.

The PPII+ will run you $169 and comes with everyting you need to get it going...I think it might be the most expensive non custom power supply on the market but it is hands down the best.

As for the George L cables you make them yourself...you just buy a length of cable and a box of ends, you don't even solder them so it takes no time at all...the ends are about $5 each and the cable is around a dollar a foot. Most places that sell it also sell "kits" that woudl include a number of ends and a length of cable at less money that buying it all seperate.

Some of this stull might seem expensive but IMO it's all worth it...

I've made all my own boards. I have always found it difficult to find a mass produced board that will do what I need. I never really use a lot of effects Delay, Chorus,OD, and a Wah is about all. But for a long time I used 2 amps and it was always a problem because one amp had a loop and one did not , so I found it easier to build my own. Today there are some good boards out there, that have the ability to accept more than one amp and they can handle loops pretty well also. As far as power I use a One Spot. It cost $30 with all the necessary componants. At that price I can keep a couple of spares in the event one craps out ( I currently have 4). They are dead quit and have never presented a problem. The George L cables are also my preference. Esay to use and they also are very clean!:laugh:

I'm making my own board as well. I haven't had a pedal board in years. Never had the need really since I don't use very many pedals to begin with. Well, I do have a Boss BCB-3 board but it houses pedals I don't have boxes for now and when I did use it, it sat behind my amp on the floor with a few pedals through the FX loop that stayed on all the time.

What I'm making mine out of is a 12"X24" black oak shelf from Home Depot made by Rubbermaid, less than $5.00. On each side will be a nice chrome tubular handle and the pedals will be held down with black industrial strength velcro. Since I power my pedals with batteries, it'll look nice and neat. On the bottom of it I'm going to use a couple old mousepads to keep it from sliding around and attach them with 3M spray adhesive. Total cost of parts: less than $20.00.

Pedal order right to left: Wah - Phase 90 - Booster - Amp Channel Switch

. . . do you think this method that you are doing is better than say, a Pedaltrain board and a good power-supply ?

I am asking, because i am doing the very same thing, that you want to do, right now !

Made my own board (very basic) from African Emboya with two ($2.00) copper handles, and i use Energizer re-chargables in all my boxes, except when i use my Whammy Ri.

I just felt an up-grade would be better . . .

What I'm doing, actually, what I've done, is better for me than a Pedaltrain and the other premade offerings because I don't use a lot of pedals and I don't require anything to be hidden. It doesn't need to be fancy for me, just functional.

IMO, what you've got going is fine. If it works for you, great. The only reason to really change to a bigger one is if you starting having more pedals in your arsenal and need to keep them tidy and neat.

Yours looks really good. Nice.

Here's mine, put together in under an hour.. I still need to get the mousepads to glue to the bottom but otherwise, it's finished.
