Re: I need opinions about the Bogner Ecstasy 101B!

I have a SHiva 1 12" EL34 80W amp. It is the best channel switching amp I have ever played thru. The only thing I would have done differently is bought a head and 2 12" cab with vintage 30's. The 80W Celestion in this amp is a little modern sounding. I am more of a Blues/rock player, but I like to have some edge to my tone and the drive channel on the Shiva provides me with as much and a lot more that I want. The clean channel is just flat out beautiful. I can't speak for the Extacy, but the simplicity of the SHiva is what I really like. The clean channel has volume, treble, Bass. The drive channel has Gain, treble, mid, bas and volume. Then the amp has a master volume and a master presence, which is sort of like a mastrer treble control. It is very easy to dial in a good sound out of both channels and the amp just flat out smokes anything else in its class. I have not used it much yet. I know that sounds strange, but prior to me buying this amp I was/am using a Marshall 900 that I A/B with a SF Super Reverb. I have used this set up for close to 15 years and I am very comfortable with my sound. As I learn how the Bogner will react to all of my guitars and material I will eventually be using it exclusively. I love my Shiva

Well, the only one i know is Hannevig amps, made by a guy named Roger Hannevig. His amps are expensive as hell (5000USD) and from reading reviews, they sound like crap. :bigthumb:

I've played through the Classic....it's one bad@$$ amp. Built well, sounds fan-freakin-tastic. Way overpriced IMO. Very nice though to have with the Bogner something that is so versatile and does alot of sounds so well. Usually you give up some tone when you add that much versatility.

For Marshall sounds, even if I had the cash, I think I'd just have one of the mod magicians work on a JMP/metalface/800 and dial it in for me. I don't feel the Bogner sounded twice as good..even though they are twice the price.

why are so many people telling him not to do it?! I think his parents will already take care of that ;).

If you really thought it through and you have legit resons to justify such a purchase to yourself, then by all means buy it!
I wish I had my Bogner when I was your age! It's the best amp I've ever heard so far and the best thing is that you will be able to get almost any tone out there ranging from real good cleans to High gain. For super high gain you need an od to push it and make it tighter.

Be shure to get the Class A switch option! This will make the amp sound sweeter. Especially the cleans will benefit a lot from using it.

Why did you choose Bogner first? There's a lot of great boutique stuff out there that all basicly do the same thing: providing a huge range of really good sounds, features and quality.

Well... after all, i'm not sure if i could justify to use so much money on a guitar amp. ;)... but i just thougth that i should collect some opinions, and remember them until later, when i get a somewhat steady income!

Thanks anyway!
