I pulled the trigger...

:32: :32: :32: ...and just picked up a nearly new Jimmy Vaughan Strat, simply put this guitar is killer! I went all over town today :drive: playing several different JV Strats...the shop that I ended up in had a few JV's as well as several vintage strats and some CS reissues as well. This JV held it' own against a $3900.00 57 reissue! :fing25: :saeek: It really it a great guitar. The neck alone on this guitar is worth the price of the guitar! :32: :cool3: It came down to 2 different ones, and I think that the one I did not go with had a poplar body...it just didn't have the guts or the punch that the one I ended up with does. Mine is black and I still can not find the seems in the body...I doubt that it's a one piece body but it sure looks like one! Even the stock pickups are great...these are the best stock Fender pickups I have heard since playing a real, late 50's Strat! I have been on the hunt for a Strat for a long time now :reporter: : private: :banghead: and I have found it! This guitar really is great. Like I said it was "used" but the whammy bar is still tight and it still has Fender strings on it and it also had plastic on the trem cover and the guardplate!

I just had to be excited and let somebody know...so I let lots of people know!!!
:arms:  :notworthy :cool2: :fing2: :afro: :headbang: :biglaugh: :duck: :18: :bigthumb: :D :beerchug: :smokin: :eyecrazy: :yes11:  :7: :lmao: :yourock:   :fest6: :nana: :fest7: :bigok: : party: :13:  :)

Re: I pulled the trigger...

cool .. I know you were looking for a good strat

those really do have great necks ... I didn't know they came in black - usually I've seen the blonde, but I think they have 2 color bursts too

anyway, black is cool

Re: I pulled the trigger...

Congradulations on your new Strat, once you find a good one, there is no turning back. :smoker:

Well since Hoss hasn't said it yet.....

NEW GUITARS ROCK!!!!

Congratulations!

Beautifully said Scott. There are very few feeling on earth quite like knowing you're going to get a new guitar and then actually getting it. You keep taking it out of the case (carefully) looking at it, playing it, making sure not to scratch it... then it becomes one of the boys!

P.S. Love the avatar

Thanks buddy...I really wanted to go with the Olympic White one...it just looks cool plus it has a single layer guardplate(so 50's!) but the Black one sounded better. The burst ones are hard to find used and the only other color is red...and I hate red guitars! This one really does kick arse!

Re: I pulled the trigger...

YES!!! :laugh2:

Man...that is what I have been telling people ever since the JV Strat came out: if you get a good one, it will hold it's own against any $2000 Custom Shop Strat I have played.

Even the stock Tex-Mex pickups have excellant tone...though a switch to Antiquitys will make that great guitar even better.

Way to go Christian! Congratulations!

I thought the Jimmy Vaughn had a really deep "V" profile. Is that true? How comfortable do you find playing that neck?

Lew, you were right all along...I am serious this guitar held it's own side by side with a CS 57 reissue...it really is killer! I think that a set of Antiquitys are coming soon!

thanks buddy!!!

Ben,

it's not what I would call a hard V...it very much has a V shape to it, and it's 111/16 at the nut which is a lattle wider that a normal vintage Fender but I love the neck...I don't know that you could shread on it, but I dig it! it fit he hand very nice for chord work and it thick enough in the back that your thumb doesn't get a cramp while playing leads. It is thicker that say a Fender C shape but because it's a V, it doesn't feel as much like a log like say a Warmoth Fat Back.

Yeah...I really was looking foward to building one but, this one is so sweet and the price was more that right! I can always build a good strat, but this really was a deal! Keep me posted on yours BTW!
