I think we're talking about 2 different things. when you say SBC or SBF you're talking carb, iron block & iron heads. The LS line is all aluminum and MPFI. by the time the LS family came around in '96?, Chevy was miles ahead of Ford, literally. Ford decided to go from a 5.0 to a 4.6 (the 5.4 was mostly in trucks). "they is no replacement for displacement", Ford threw a HUGE party in 2005 when they reached 300hp, something Chevy had since the LT's, the last of the C4 Corvettes .
