I really like this hydrid . . .

Re: I really like this hydrid . . .

I think we're talking about 2 different things. when you say SBC or SBF you're talking carb, iron block & iron heads. The LS line is all aluminum and MPFI. by the time the LS family came around in '96?, Chevy was miles ahead of Ford, literally. Ford decided to go from a 5.0 to a 4.6 (the 5.4 was mostly in trucks). "they is no replacement for displacement", Ford threw a HUGE party in 2005 when they reached 300hp, something Chevy had since the LT's, the last of the C4 Corvettes .

Cars is my #1, guitars comes second

The LSx is the aluminum headed (except for 99/00 trucks) (and often aluminum block) completely redesigned 3rd/4th gen small block chevy, and is far more advanced than any prior small block. It's my area of expertese but not really relevant to this debate. I just threw it in there.

The gen2 was the LT1/4(like 92-97), which was still an all iron 350 with reverse cooling and a horrible front mounted distributor(opti-spark). It didnt make 300+hp until the LT4 in the GS C4

The TBI gen1 305/350 was in the 87-95 trucks and some F-bodies (reliable but oh so weak)

The vortec 305/350 ('96-2000 old body style trucks) (all iron) was the PFI version of the gen1(final attempt)

289/302 are short deck versions of the windsor small block ford, which received PFI(and a new firing order on the HO) in 87(?)

The 351 windsor is the standard deck version of the small block ford that also received PFI in the trucks in 87.

I left out TPI and the early cross-fire injections, because I'm not sure on the year models.

The brand new gen5 direct-injected version of the LSX is now called the LT1, which was an absolutely horrible nomenclature move on their part..... But the engines are great.... So I'm over it. LOL

Not to steer the topic in a different direction but that is because the aftermarket for the Chevy SB is 10X as big as Ford, flip through a Jeg's catalog. (And Chevy designed their SB family better than the Ford counterparts. The 350 will go down in history for being the best engine produced, the 302/5.0 in a distant 2nd)

It is a very popular mod over here !
Sooo many guys put Chevy motors in their Ford Hot/Street Rods on this side of the world.
My uncle has a 350 (highly modded though) in his 1939 Studebaker Coupe too :

I did a metal one with this combo, except P90's instead of humbucker for the neck. I quite like them like this
