Re: I think I'm going to sell my Marshall

I didn't read all the replys but offer it as orginal with a price and change them for a different price and have the customer choose what they want.

Thanks! I'm the opposite. Since I work on amps myself I'd rather buy one that's bone stock so I can recap it and repair it with the caps and parts I like and prefer the tone of. I usually end up tweaking the whole circuit a bit of every amp I own. The only reason this Marshall stayed stock for so long was that #1 it sounded killer as is and #2 I rarely play it. But I did plug it in the other day and now I can hear that it needs a recap. It sounds a little shrill and underpowered and I can hear some ghost tones. I'm sure it's the 35 year old filter caps. See, you being familiar with amp circuits, I can totally understand where you're coming from......if you're the buyer. BUT, the guy buying YOUR amp may not be familiar, and may feel alot more comfortable knowing that the amp has been gone through. It's all subjective really. I had a '60 Fender Harvard tweed that was bone stock, all original, and started sounding a little thin and farty. A friend wanted to buy it as/is, and I sold it to him. He's a vintage Fender nut, and had no intention of pulling the amp apart. He appreciated that the amp was original, so yeah, I can understand. I'm just too much of a utilitarian I guess.

Lew I have not heard back from him, kinda suprised but I am gonna assume he is not interested.

It will make someone mighty happy.

I'd let the buyer decide but personally I'd recap it if I bought it.

To me, it's like this... would I want to drive a car for 20 years without changing the tires? Or the oil?
