Ibanez 2013

So, there are some interesting things on offer from the big I this year. In full: http://www.ibanez.co.jp/usa/products/New/index.html.

Anyway, these caught my eye. I'm not one for signature guitars, but I find myself nodding at the moves Ibz has made.

7 string Jem, anyone? Just like Vai's Evo but with Blaze pups.

Universe has become a Premium, modelled after the old UV7BK with green pups. Looks like it's got an EZ instead of Lo Pro though.

The JS2410 has an alder body and new s/c sized bucker for Joe.

JS24 Premium - nice idea to have this, imo, between the MIJ JSs and MIC JS100.

Crazy 9 string proto.

The Iceman is back

Funky Tosin Abasi sig. Like that wenge/bubinga neck. First time I've seen Ibanez do a natural finish on basswood

Tonnes of other stuff. Still prefer the guitars of yesteryear, but there's quite a bit of variety - line not so RG oriented as in the 90s.

Re: Ibanez 2013

^^ You and me, man :friday:. I fear that Roadstar ('86 spec), Proline, and Radius are consigned to history, unless someone becomes famous playing one and gets a signature model based on them.

But, some of the newer models, like the FR and Darkstone, seem quite sensible. Don't care for that sig FR though, Prestige one (which seems to be defunct) seems nicer.

The only HSS guitar seems to be the AT :(, but I guess most people who play an Ibanez these days didn't get it for neck single coil sounds.

This one seems cool as well - ebony board, bone nut, series/parallel/split switch for neck pu. Recalls the old guitars.

I would love t have another JS. That neck is the most comfortable I have ever played.
