Hi, just got hold of a 1981 Ibanez Artist AS200. Can someone tell me what function the small switch has. OK it has 2 HB pups. 2 volume and 2 tone controls plus the 3 way pup switch, but other small switch doesnt seem to do anything. Can someone tell me how this switch is supposed to operate. Thought this may have been a phase switch.

Re: Ibanez Artist AS200 Switches

Its a series/split/parallel or series/parallel switch, depending on whether or not the handle has two or three "click" positions.

If the switch has two positions:

1. parallel
2. series (normal humbucker)

If the switch has three positions:

1. parallel
2. split
3. series (normal humbucker)

Use these two diagrams as references, with the following color code translation:

Duncan = Ibby
white = black
red = Blue
black = red
green = yellow

Duncan, series/split/parallel

Ibanez AS-200

Hope this helps.

Huh . . . thats interesting though, that you can't hear a difference. I wonder if someone has disconnected it at some point. You should hear a dramatic difference when split. Not sure how the parallel would sound.

Re: Ibanez Artist AS200 Switches

I'll have a look tomorrow and pull the switch out. May have been disabled for some reason. Didnt use switch when I bought it. Just plugged it in and used pup selector switch. Liked the look of the guitar and feel of neck plus sounded good,so bought it. Old 58 pups dont sound too bad.

It's a series/split/parallel switch for the neck pup. Here ...
