Ibanez infinity pickups not so bad?

Re: Ibanez infinity pickups not so bad?

Didn't know that.

Some of the youngers on here probably don't know/remember that Zakk's first set and promotion was actually the Selects.
I remember seeing him/them as a Guitar World ad, and I would just stare at them and want them sooo bad lol.
Fortunately by the time I had enough money to try aftermarket pups they had already went full-blown promo with the 81/85, so that's what I ended up getting for my Rhoads-pro,,,,,,,,glad I waited!!!
Those original EMG Select pickups were very bass heavy (I had a set) and not as good as the rest of the Select models that came later.

Re: Ibanez infinity pickups not so bad?

We tried an RG350 HSH loaded with stock inf pickups against a Gio HH with replacement pickups (Tone Zone/Bluesbucker)
Amps used:
* Crate BlueVoodoo / 4x12" Crate Speakers
* Marshall valvestate combo VS265
* 10W generic Crate amp / Rivera 2x12" speakers

To be fair, the stock INF neck pickup sounded fairly decent, sounded like a PAF to us. It was sparkly on clean and didn't get muddy during distorted solos.
The bridge pickup in the other hand lacked everything. The sound was very thin and dead. I'd recommend a JB or a Tone Zone as replacement
