Ibanez Prestige RGA 121 - Maybe near future NGD!!

First of all, Hello you guys on the SD forum!

Yesterday I was looking at some guitars at a local pawn shop here in France, and between the cheapo guitars something caught my eye...
That's right, an Ibanez Prestige RGA 121, sold with the original prestige hard case. And to my delight, they only asked 500€ for it! I was considering getting myself a new Fender MIM Tele, but this right here... Completely made me forget the Tele.
So now I need to go back there and ask to examine it, see if the neck is in good condition, try it out, and if it's good I think I know what I will be getting for Christmas :D

Any of you guys have experience with this model? Any advice on what I should be checking on the guitar before buying it?

Welcome to the forum (Am I allowed to do this?).

Anyway, if it makes you wanna play, buy it. Cheers.-

Wise words.
Went to the store and took a closer look at it : it's in very good shape, already set up correctly, and beautiful. The neck felt comfortable, and it sure inspires me and makes me wanna play! I'm totally buying it.
If I score it, stay tuned if you want pics!

That is one of my favorite Ibanez guitars and I regret not buying one. They sound great and play great! Keep us informed.

I have the toned down version, RGA32, maybe this helps. What impresses me is the neck, which is very flat on the back, as if it were intentionally planed to enhance its flatness. To me is the perfect guitar for shred. But the body is thinner than the normal RG, that's the only catch but still, if you play metal/ shred/ fast solos, I recommend you to snatch that baby. What color is that, natural flat?

I don't know the name of the color, but it looks like natural brown.
The neck on it is indeed very flat, but not in a bad way. I'm used to playing on a Squier Tele and an Epi Les Paul, so it's kind of a big leap, but surprisingly it doesn't feel wierd at all!
This kind of guitar would be good to learn to solo, since I only learned the rythmic part of guitar playing (and there's an awful lot of rythm styles and techniques!).

Now the hard part : need to keep on saving up money... I hope that by the time I have enough cash the guitar will still be there!

Sadly I don't have enough money... And the guitar's gone. Meh, at least now I have a reason to upgrade my Squier Tele, it'll be cheaper!

Looks great! What is that under it, a multi-effetcs pedal?

I like the looks of the Rosewood Veneer version of that guitar.

I'm going to be swapping the agathis body of my RG-120 to a mahogany one in the near future. What would be the proper model number for that? I was thinking maybe "RG-123".

Re: Ibanez Prestige RGA 121 - Maybe near future NGD!!

I have an RGA121 with original case and I LOVE that guitar. I have a line on another one, just waiting to see if I can get it for $400 with the case like I did this minty one I just got! :)

Hands down, one of the best Prestige models ever made.
