Hi there, you look like a cool board.... I`m jumping in
well, i`m trying to find pickups that can match my Ibanes RG570. It`s a basswood body, maple neck with bubinga stripe and rosewood fretboard guitar with a edge trem system. I am a bit confused and I don`t have an oportunity to go and try pickups (I live in the cave) so I`m checkin the internet.
I won`t change my single coil, I go for a bridge and neck and although I play heavy music I think I won`t go for SD distortion. I love the crunch and chug, but I did heard some samples and it sounds like it`s imposible to run away from that one and only tone, a bit compresed and not organic at all. I could be totally wrong, that`s why i`m writing here..I need some experienced opinions on a subject.
For example, guitars on Anthrax album State Of Euphoria (for christ sake is it really released 17 years from now???) sounds just great when heavy distorted and yet very organic and healthy. I think (again, could be wrong) that is a tone which can go into more heavy CHUG and also more warm zones..That`s my goal to achieve, maybe not exact sound, but the elements...organic, clear but meaty strong and audible when heavy distorted. With edge and balanced.
I got a 100% sure info that they used Seymor DUncan JB model when recording, but I know they always play a full mahogany guitars and I don`t want to end with thin sounded guitar. Anybody have some opinion? I read a lot about it and it usualy covers the reviews of JB in alder (could be very thin, they say) or mahogany guitars, but basswood is what i got.
Any other advices are helpfull, be free do advice me in any direction.
Thanks
P.S. I like heavy sound, but not too scooped NU metal. I also wanna play some hot hard rock on that guitar, i like Slayers South of Heaven, but then again Living Colour is great.
