If distortion was eliminated completely from the face of the earth, what would everyone be playing (styles)? Would you keep playing rock/metal clean or would you give it up and start working on funk/jazz stuff? Just curious.

I'd play Against Me acoustic-y punk type stuff instead of reagular staight up punk, don't need the distortion much when im playing my Ska either.

idk if rock and metal could exist the same way.....but theres definately other ways of being heavy.....Pete Townshend sound is huge and hiwatt amps are very clean....and the loudest creatures on the face of the earth hehe

I'd switch to being a full time acoustic guitarist.
But if you have clean tube amps you could still overdrive the tubes and get distortion, right? Would tube amps have to be banned too?

It's impossible to eliminate it from the earth. I'd just poke holes in speakers and use too low wattage speakers.
