If I lit my guitar on fire...

So, I've got a crapy Ibanez GRX45.

Total crap, can't stay in tune, can't stay intonated, it's just a cheap guitar in general.

So why not mess around and maybe make it look cool?

Let's say I took the neck, electronics and hardware off the guitar, so I just had the body empty. Let's say that I then covered it in lighter fluid or something like that, and lit the whole thing on fire for a while, so that it got all charred and stuff.

Would there be any reason that I couldn't then put the neck back on, reattach the hardware, put the electronics back in, and have a really cool looking guitar?

There are at least 1,000 I can think of off the top of my head. I'll let you figure them out.

Re: If I lit my guitar on fire...

oddly enough, i did this with my ibanez grx.....im not kidding. but first, i completely sanded off the original black finish till the body was just bare wood......and i didnt light it on fire, but i took a blowtorch and put it on a low setting, and then gently waved it over the body strategically....so what ended up happening looked really cool, cause it was like the outlines of the grain in the guitar burned fast, so they turned black, and it looked pretty cool because the wood was a very light color, with the burned black accent of the wood grain

but i never put the guitar back together because i dont really care to play it since it sucks so bad

Just for that, I'm gonna make sure I do it and that it works!

I'd play that **** live cause it'd look so cool.

What I'm thinking I might do is like, make a pattern with the lighter fluid, and torch it up, so it burns in a specific pattern, Zoro style.

do it, but not with lighter fluid. Slowly burn it so you have more control and get it perfect instead of losing yer neck. Hell use a match stick if ya have 2:laugh2:

Nope, unless you accidentally toast it it should still be fine ;)

That's not the point, the point is to get it charred and burnt the fuk up. I don't want some delicate little design, I want the whole thing look fubar.

Re: If I lit my guitar on fire...

why don't you just paint the poor guitar?? you can even draw some flames on it !! :)

Re: If I lit my guitar on fire...

Why don't you try and learn how to fix guitars with it and see if you can get it working better. If you can than give it to some kid who might want to start playing but his/her parents can't afford it.

Or maybe some nice looking babe would like to play so give it to her and give her lessons.

Either way that's what I would do. If I were younger I'd say go for the chick, now I'd say go for the needy.

I've already used the guitar as a great learning experince with changing electronics. Nothing on it is stock.

However, getting a new bridge, re-fretting it and getting new tuners would just cost too much to be worth it. For that price, I might as well buy a new guitar. I'll still use this guitar, I'll just make it look fancy (burned).

Re: If I lit my guitar on fire...

Its not a question of whether or not you should set it on fire. Given your critique of the instrument, its a question of whether or not you should put the fire out. ;)
