if you could only have one

if you could only have one guitar and one amp for the rest of your life, what would it be? any pup configuration, any cab configuration, for what ever style or styles you play. lets hear your opinions. this should be pretty interesting.

Re: if you could only have one

oh, and my choice after long consideration would be a stratocaster with a humbucker in the bridge and 2 single coils. as far as an amp, i would go with something along the lines of a fender bassman or peavey classic 50 with 4x10's and a 1x15 satelite cab. i think that would cover most styles of music i play from country to metal.

Re: if you could only have one

A vintage strat with a rosewood board (and the right neck) dont matter what color it is. I'd put my CS Texas Hot Hot in the bridge, and probably Texas Hots in the neck and middle with baseplates on the bottom of all three. For an amp, it'd be my GA-30. I love the sound of the thing. I've yet to play a fender amp to beat it's sound.

Re: if you could only have one

The very Warmoth that I have - Mahagony bodied soloist with an Alnico II Pro neck, Fender Lace Sensor Gold middle (that might have to be changed to something less quacky actually), and Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge.

As far as the amp, I'd have to take a Line 6 Flextone III XL. I'm constantly getting bored with my tone and wanting to try something new, and I just don't see myself surviving with a "real" amp.

Re: if you could only have one

amp would be mesa road kind head + 4x12 road king cab

guitar would be some sort of either custom jackson or custom schecter

Re: if you could only have one

Guitar would be a McNaught Single cut with Duncan JB/Jazz pups
Amp would be a Koch Powertone II, although I'd have to admit it wouldn't satisfy all my tone needs, matching V30 loaded cab

I play Latin, Fusion, Progressive Rock and 80's rock

Re: if you could only have one

I just need on item - a Fuchs Triple Drive 50 head - this and my current Marshal 4x12 cabinet along with my Strat w/EMGs H/S/S would keep me happy forever.

Re: if you could only have one

an early 60's strat (rosewood fretboard) and a mint 65 pro reverb with RCA blackplates and telefunken 12ax7's.

Re: if you could only have one

The American BC Rich Bich I have with the Mesa Single Recto I have. Maybe Dual but I'd be fine with the Single.

Re: if you could only have one

American Floyd rose Fat strat. EMG-81 bridge, SA middle, SA neck. (Brown sunburst)

Peavey 6505, or a Fender twin. Hard choice, I may change my mind on what i'll end up playing...

Re: if you could only have one

probably the V that i have now, mesa boogie 2:90 / triaxis with a splawn 4x12

Re: if you could only have one

this is a thinker...
guitar would be... i think if have to go with a strat here, some kinda EMG set up (yea i know)
amp... peavey banditt 112

Re: if you could only have one

Circuit V. Panther Flying V [CVP=V]: Satin neck, JB/59 replaced with SH6N and SH8B, I don't know what the single is off-hand, but I'd have it be a rail pickup.

Hmm...I like the Marshall TSL 2x12" swamp thangs with a 2x12" black powder extension cabinet, it would haul ass and handle drop tunings nicely.

Heh, the ultimate metal setup :p (imo, of course)
