if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

Re: if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

Les Paul historic '59

Diezel VH4 (or a Bogner  )

Re: if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

Brand new arctic white Les Paul Custom With C5 & '59 pups.

Brand new Marshall JCM2000 DSL50 with 1960A cab.

That would pretty much soak up the 10 grand up here in Canada. :smack:

Re: if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

fender '64 vibroverb custom: $3000
fender custom shop '56 relic strat w/ gold: $3700

$6700, close enough to 10G :p

Re: if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

Guitar- Gibson Les Paul Custom in white w/ a jb bridge pickup and jazz neck pickup, the best electronics and tuners

Amp- Head: I would say bogner ecstasy 101b, but to be different, I'll go with a Diezel vh4

Cabs: Two Bogner cabs (there's bogner again) with vintage 30s

I guess I'm about the same as a lot of people...

Re: if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

Guitar - Gibson Les Paul Custom in Alpine White with gold covered 59 humbuckers

Amp - A Marshall DSL 100 with 2 marshall AX cabs.

Re: if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

Gibson SG Supreme in midnight burst, probably some SD custom shop pickups

Now for an amp I have no idea. I could cry out Bogner or Diezel like everyone else but I have only heard some sound clips and no first hand experience. Tthere are probably more companies out there who deliver the quality stuff. I'd hate to be missing out on those.
I rather try out a bunch of high gain amps in a store with 10000 in my backpocket and see which one is the most dynamic, vesatile and brutal with the most complex tone. Also needs good cleans. Matching cab would be logic to include for that kind of money.
Can you tell I'm Dutch :D ?

Re: if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

I'll take a Pepsi. Ha Ha, just kidding!

I have the stuff I love, and did my best to aquire it, but if I could spend 10 G's, I'd pass on the guitar, and get Howard Dumble to make me an Overdrive Special 100
with a matching Dumble 4-12 in white leather. It'd be a custom one-off. Then, I'd have Mr. Dumble sign the back of it with a marker, spend the next 10 yrs playing it with my strats, and watch it become the most rare and coveted amp ever made.

Woah loadsa people are goin for bogner's are they really that much better than marshalls and mesa's?

yes it is. i say they are the bst amps made ever! i played a diezel VH4 a couple of months ago and wasn't really impressed with it. i guessed it's one of those situations where it takes alot of tweaking to get "your" sound. but bogner is just amazing. and like i said... it;s only $3200 :laugh2:

Re: if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

i think i would have to go for a a custom built 58 les paul but with p90's and a single set of controls. Faded tobacco and a plain top like with just a little bit of figuring.

for the amp i would have to go for a 2x12 matchless combo.

(i already have the teles i want and a soldano i like so i guess i had to come up with something different.)

Re: if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

well guitar wise it would have to be a black Gibson LP custom with chrome rather than gold hardware. Rio Grande Punch box in the bridge, SD Pearly Gates in the neck.

My amp would prbably have the be a Diezel VH4 with two Orange cabs with v30s and G12Hs. I'd love to say a Matamp Green, but i dont think it would be versatile enough. Great for my heavy stoner stuff, but i would want a bit more flexibility for 10,000. I'd probably have enough change for one anyway!

Re: if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

I cant help it
2 guitars:
- Gibson Les Paul Custom (Alpine White) with stock Pro BB's.
- Peavey Wolfgang USA Custom model with stock EVH's.

Amp:
- Mesa/Boogie MarkIV Long Head with (2) Mesa 4x12 std. recto cabs!

Re: if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

I'd get a custom driskill diablo guitar.... tigers eye finish, gold hardware, 2 black P-90s, and some sort of cool custom inlay with my initials on the 12th fret... $4000

Then, i'd prolly get a real all original '59 bassman (if i could find one), or maybe a tweed Pro, or a marshall plexi Bluesbreaker.

That would prolly fullfill all of my G.A.S. for several years... !!

Re: if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

Driskill Guitar, just like the purple one on his website Quilt top, Mahogany neck and body, purple, gold hardware, stoptail, longhorn inlays. Not sure what pups, probably APH2 and Custom bridge, with PRS McCarty like control layout. $3800 bucks Approx.

Bal:
Dr Z 6545 amp with Zbest 2x12 and 4x10 cabs for different tones.

Or.

Two rock Custom 50 ( Dumbley tone) with 2x12 and 4x10 cabs,

Cabs are for either/or particular gigs.

Re: if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

forget the guitar I got it, I just want an ENGL SE with a matching 4x12 vintage cab loaded with V30's and a Dr. Z Prescription.

Re: if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

Guitar: Used Benedetto Manhattan like the green here that Bob made for his daughter Gina.

Amp: Sorry, I would have blown my 10-Large, and them some, on the guitar

Actually that amp alone will set you back about 10G. No problem though, you could always borrow money from the guy with the B.C. Rich. I'm sure he'll have plenty left over. ;)

I like guitars I feel comfortable beating the sh*t out of.

One of the reasons I'll likely never own a Gibson. I'm just not comfortable with a guitar that expensive.

But yeah, you can have some of my imaginary $$$$ :)

Re: if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

I'd probably just keep what I've got and blow it on 18 year old Scotch and Cuban cigars. :smoker:

Seriously though, I dunno, I'd have to play a lot of guitars and amps before I could decide.

Re: if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

Best sounding '59 strat I could find (chunky neck, rw board :)), and as many vintage fender amps I could afford. twins, supers, delux's....hell, just throw it all on there.

Re: if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

I'd skip on the guitar (I love my LP Standard :D), buy a few sets of Duncan's (for test purposes ;)) and spend the rest on amps: Marshall JTM45, Vox AC30, Bad Cat Black Cat and a few vintage Fenders.

Dunno if thats my $10,000 gone or not :)
